No no..... Inventos absurdos no porfa.
I noticed that her vibrato was different than what she has done in other pieces, and despite her young age (15 yrs) at the time of this performance, I think this was intentional on her part. This was her interpretation of what she viewed were the composer's feelings, and while I was not entirely comfortable with the extent of her vibrato, she chose that over the more overt rubato which can be heard by other musicians whose performances are on RU-vid, including a Russian violinist and another with some Russian ethnic heritage. Tchaikovsky's life was full of contradictions and conflicts - you can hear it in this piece. Perhaps Chloe Chua will perform this piece differently 10 years from now; perhaps not. But I am more than willing to accept her performance as a valid interpretation.
After watching and seeing this performance for over four years, I still find this is the most alive, and entertaining, of those on youtube. The interplay among the excellent performers is always refreshing and never tiring. This perfectly balanced group constantly supports each other, an attitude resulting in a musical gem. Beethoven would be most pleased.
