@@HeliShed tell me about it lol it all adds up rather fast i could of bought some newer ones by now . still its all good fun ive got the trex 550 e to try next week
Thanks for the video. Nice to see another one and actually flying well. I have struggled with mine. In order to get the 85-95mm C of G, I had to use a load of nose weight and an 1800 4S battery. What CG did you use and did you need extra nose weight? In flight it was a handful. Increased throttle would pitch it up massively suggesting maybe that it was nose heavy, which would figure given that it's meant to fly on really small 3S batteries. Were you using 3S? Maybe it's better with the CG further back?
hi i actually put a slightly bigger motor in mine and i use a 1300 4s lipo so it proberbly worked out about right , i couldnt say how good it flies i mostly fly helis so my skills on the plane are not great my cg is about 90
@@arcturus2382 Hi and thanks for that. It sounds like the combination of your bigger motor and 4S put the CG right. I have mine at 85mm with a 2300 3S for the moment (still with ballast in the nose), but I haven't tried it yet. I did do a radical hack and realigned (rotated) the wings forward by moving the pegs in the fuse. Now the horizontal tail is in one line with the leading edge and trailing edge. I am wondering whether the pegs were glued in too low which dropped the trailing edge slightly. We will soon find out!
@@mrhilma sounds like u hav set it up with zero degrees incedence so that should fly the same inverted as upright ,i need to fly mine more but i dont hav easy site for planes but it does fly good my first flight i crashed because i hadnt flown for ages but had s few flights since ok . i got a timber x yet to be flown flying the balsa belero is nice but i dont want to smash it up lol will u hav vid of your flight would like to see if so .cheers
Exactly - 0 degrees incidence! The hope was that it would be more neutral. The weather's turned bad here, so I may not see test-flying and videoing conditions for a while. Timber should be more relaxing!
Lovely videos of your Flybar Rex 500! Great to see also other people that still like to flyflybar ones. I own more or less the same one in the 600 version ,although I’m still learning to fly helicopters I enjoy them a lot. Here is mine Rex 600 cf some years ago one my very first hover solo,I was absolutely nervous 🫣 Anyway, nothing especial on the video but at least you can see my flybar Rex ! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zo_A0d504NE.htmlsi=cFthSyQbU7FFDANB Nice regards from Germany ✌️🚁🚁🚁
cheers yes it wasnt to bad just a servo and straiten the boom but the blade was broke so i do try and buy the seconds u can get them for 15 pound sometimes , just got a load of tarrot blades for the 450 8 pound so not so bad .
yes land was soft i put on spare servo straightened boom and had a pair of spare blades and she ready to crash again lol ,and flybar in 2024 lol ive just bought a 600 trex flybar heli and a 550 flybar ,i hav got a flybarless head for 550 though the 600 will remain as is unless i find a head for it .should be fun
@@arcturus2382I've got a Trex-600e, currently out of service as I need parts, mainly need the CF frames, but they're not really in stock anymore. In the process of rebuilding my CNC machine to cut out the CF frames. Seems that's the only way I'll be able to get them. Hopefully you can still find trex 500 parts.
hi . yes 500 parts are easy there are lots of them and should be able to get some 600 parts on ebay . if u serch internet u might find some new frames i hav seen them sometimes depends were u are i found some parts then they usually are in other countries with expensive post lol
@@arcturus2382 I've checked ebay here and there and I do see some but they're in UK (I'm in US). Which isn't all that much of an issue, however it seems they're used frames, which I would prefer new ones. Ultimately I will crash the heli again at some point so I'll need to find a longer term solution with regards to the frames. Other parts like the main gear, main shaft, etc.. will probably become an issue further down the line as well. I think it some point it'll make more sense for me to fix it, retire it as a shelf piece and maybe pick up a more modern heli. I have an old Shuttle ZX that's 25 years old at this point that sits on my shelf. Parts for that would be impossible to find.
@@K9Megahertz i just got a blade 500x so i had to buy 2 so i could hav some parts but trex helis are usually good u can just buy another heli for parts but a newer heli is easyer but were is the fun in that lol, i had a shuttle in 2001 i didnt keep it unfortunatly ive seen 2 on ebay this week
lol i thought it was toast , just shows how strong they are . u do hav to make sure the blades are tight vto avoiod blade strike, i did turn the motor back on but it didnt spool up as fast as it should i hav turned it up more on the esc but dont know if i shall risk it again lol
high its a tarrot head the rest is trex its quite good ive just ordered some more tarrot bits cheap blades etc , theses 450 are great to practice for cheap repair cost
It's been difficult trying to fly with all the wind and rain we've had recently. Hoping it'll improve soon along with lighter evenings for some after-work flying! Glad you've managed to find the odd decent day.
Fun plane, after you sort out the garbage undercarriage issues.. Easiest fix - Use the rear float legs in the box to reinforce the main gear. Bend the fuselage mount point on the rear legs straight, Take off the plastic main gear retainers, Place the float legs on top of the main gear legs, then flip the retainers over and refasten. The additional leg-set should loop behind the main gear, with the 90 degree bent leg ends pointing forward. Fasten both together near the wheel hub with a small zip-tie. Repeat for both sides. Fyi - Mine hasn't needed any adjustment since discovering this fix. also seriously reduces gouging of the fuselage in front and behind the wheel pants, and extends the life of the wheel pants themselves. Try 4S if you dare.. scary fun. Happy trails
@@arcturus2382haha i'd say more judgement than luck! You're getting really really good at flying now mate! ( that damn parcel was delivered by amazon today, and the idiot driver did the same thing as royal mail were doing, he posted it through the communal door letterbox downstairs and the parcel has been stolen!! Fuming! I spoke to amazon customer services and they're sending a replacement out in 2 days! I've had no luck recently me have I mate!!?? LOL )
Great Heli. Next days I will get a 500L, too. It is used but in great condition absolved just 10 flights by a Pilot thats flying helis for 30 years. I am very excited! Wich fbl system you run with it?
i did hav a microbeast which was good but i just changed to the spektrum fc6250 which i like also . it is a great heli plenty biggernough compered to a 450
I must say mate, that Heli is the definition of precision, beauty, quality, It's a work of art impo! Also, isn't it a lovely feeling when you land safely after a really enjoyable flight!
Mate at around 2:00, you were doing a manoeuvre I forget the name of? But while watching you do said manoeuvre, I couldn't help but think your head speed was just too low/slow for the Heli to perform the manoeuvre properly? Like it just didn't have enough power/torque going to the blades to perform the manoeuvre properly? Obviously I'm wayyy behind you in flying skills n experience etc, so please forgive me if I am missing something?? LOL
lol yes the headspeed is low i like it low for cruising about but u do need higher for tik tokks or rainbows so i do go up a gear but go back down again before i end up in the hedge lol i need more room
Mechanical flybar technology is way too underrated, it shouldnt be forgotten like it is nowdays, how far into digital can we get. I put more trust into mechanics.
hello and awesome flying brother, i have been looking at this model aircraft in the TH website and thinking about making a purchase, did you use the recommended motor, esc & servos on the website? and how is the cg for you? thank you for your time 🛫
hi thanks for the comment, i cant remember exactly what is in the plane it is in the loft at this time i think it was the sugested motor then i flew it 4s instead of 3s which gave it a nice chunk of power . it is a very floaty plane as it is light with lots of lift.chears
Aww mate I could tell you really enjoyed yourself in this one! At the end during your auto' I panicked thinking "Oh shoot!! He's come down too fast!!" LOL But you still got it on the ground safely, albeit a bit hard! Awesome flying mate!
Mate I think the 6S power might be making it fly better? You know because the higher head speeds makes them more stable? Just a hunch, I could be wrong? Awesome flight as always, I'm amazed how good you've got during recent months!
Typically when running 6s you have a lower kv motor and its geared for similar head speed that you would run otherwise. Target head speed should be based on the airframe and rotors chosen and what ever flight mode the user has setup then you choose a motor and gearing to reach that target. Higher head speed isn't inherent to being 6s. Its just that newer 6s motors tend to have a higher max watt rating than older 3s motors. Basically its just a bigger more powerful motor. There could be made larger more powerful motors that are 3s if there was demand. That happens plenty for other markets where you get super high KV but low voltage motors.
yes this is a great heli to get back into flyin helis its far more capable than my skills but easy to fly if u learning to . u can adjust the settings easy on the heli and it wont brake the bank on spares and is quite good on durability . the omp m2 is good to
I would have got the S1 if I didn't already have an M1 which I love. As you say, you can stick it in a rucksack along with a tx and take it anywhere. Perfect for smaller flying areas too.
i sold my m1 for 110 pound and got the s1 for 160 on bangood u still need the trans they had them on align trex unboxed for 30 i think they are 40 now . i will say the m1 is great i wouldnt say the s1 is any better but the trans is handy😀
cheers i wanted to fly it last week but me scooter broke lol.it flies great and wasnt as nerve wracking as i thought. didnt u say u hav one of these aswell
