I turn to Arvo Part when I need to enter fully into the world of emotion, not only mine but the emotion of the world soul. He is, I think, a true and precious gift to this world..... and so is Bjork, another totally genuine musician.
in 2023 the youtube sidebar has just about the only decent algo left on the mainstream web. ...hard to believe it's operated by google at this point. anyway thanks for this gem, lil YT algobot, please never change! what a delightful interview.
It is so suprising to see how one of your favourite musicians interviews another one and touches in their dialogue the theme that seems interesting for you... )
Two natural souls without shades that narrow their view, purpose, direction, purity and with a child´s pure emotions and the fearless playfulness... I watched a clip of Aarvo listening to the sound of the rain on the inneryard of a house absolutely beautiful... I think it is very important with acoustics and tempo for Aarvo... How it sounds... The way that there is never the same sound to be heard twice and the joy of moments finding the gem´s of audial experiences... (sorry for the lousy wording, Swedish is my native tongue...)
And neither communicating in their fist language. One can only imagine what their responses would have been if they responded in Estonian and Icelandic
This is a really fascinating portrait of the language of music. You have two individuals, both brilliant artistically, speaking to one another in a language that they are clearly not completely fluent in, and yet they understand one another so clearly because of the concepts they're talking about.
"You can kill someone with sound, and if you can kill then maybe there is also the sound which is opposite of killing. And the distance between these two points is very big. You are free, you can choose. In art everything is possible. But everything that is made is not necessary."
