@@clintonstreifling3718yes! I will never forget all the bare knuckle push ups and running around the dojo getting hit on the heel with his bamboo stick. It was an honor to train under him.
Beautiful video. Student of Kenshikai Traditional Okinawa Goju-Ryu under Tetsuhiro Hokama. The dojo I attend is Okinawa Karate Center Uchinaadikan, Traditional Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate-jutsu....Houston Texas - Kyoshi Rusty Mcmains is my teacher. Arigato gozaimashita!
Hi there. Yes very clear really nice. This is the sort thing that's very good for novice students to see, a senior grade taking their time over kata. Respectfully Tim
Very nice , again slow and precise . Which is something not often seen today , as I've said before . You have a smooth movement that hide real power . Much appreciated Tim
This is genuinely great. Today most people rush their kata, in a sad attempt to cover their lack of knowledge . This on the other hand displays great knowledge, Fantastic. Respectfully Tim
I always thought the Gekkisais were the original beginner kata in Goju Ryu. I however heard from Bakkies Laubscher sensei that Fukyu kata were still practiced at the Higaonna dojo in the 70s but were later dropped. I wanted to look them up and to my surprise what I'm seeing here is the first/second of the Heian/Pinan kata, which are the beginners' kata in Shotokan, Kyokushin and Wado Ryu. Historically, this is an interesting observation.
These Katas are practiced all over Okinawa, I taught them when I was still a member of The IOGKF which Sensei Higaonna knew about thanks for watching stay safe✌🏽
