Welcome! I’m Mike Sjogren, and I help people start and scale their own short term rental business. If you want to learn about Airbnb, short term rentals & boutique hotels, this is the place for you! I started this channel to share tips and strategies to help you earn passive income from your real estate investments. I’ve been in the hospitality industry since 2017 and I've been blessed to build a portfolio of Airbnbs and boutique hotels that allowed me to retire myself, my wife and my mom.

Recently opened a boutique hotel - can be rented by individual suite (there are only 3) or the whole house. Airbnb is hitting us up with a 15% host fee for every rental - suite or whole house. Our management team said if we bump up the nightly rate to compensate, then our rates will look too high (even though the guest total is comparable to other places). So we're not making the ROI we should... help!
Maybe there is value here. I get you think you need to psychologically get into that headspace and if buying those things gets you there then okay I guess if that's what you think you need to do. Keep in mind you did it without doing all that. All I'm envisioning is you made a little money and you not only jumped head first into keeping up with the Jones which forces you to dramatically inflate your lifestyle, but you also left your roots behind 🤷🏽♀️.
Arnold has said and done a lot of inspirational things but he’s not always a good person either. Guy cheated Mr.Olympia, cheated on his wife, knocked up their nanny, and said “f your freedom” during Covid.
This is objectively terrible and dangerous financial advice. Spending money above “where you are” is only good for the seller who suckered you into it. Apart from which, to the point at the beginning, to save a loved one’s life I would spend any amount of money, knowing that the consequences could mean bankruptcy, debt, homelessness, etc, because their life is worth more to me than possessions and comfort. If you really love someone, this is how it should be. There are few other things worth that same risk. It’s insane to suggest that people should risk it all for the pipe dream of becoming a successful business owner. Even if it all works out, which it often does not, what have you actually gained? Money, status, a sense of self-importance? Why, to what ends? To consume more than you need, gain admiration you do not deserve, to feel good about yourself? It’s all pointless and nothing more than a distraction from what really matters in life. If you can earn a living running a business, great, but that is only a means to an end, and should not be viewed as more than that.
I would agree with you if what I said was literally “buy above your means” but it’s more of a mindset. When you commit to “buying the plane” you’re putting in the belief that you can. Then you literally figure out a way to do it what’s your mind is ready to commit and act. Focusing way more on mindset here than literal. Just couldn’t include the full clip. 👊
@@mikesjogren You should be more careful about how you communicate in shortform content in that case, since there are people who are duped regularly by people saying exactly what I thought you were. The rest of my disagreement still stands of course. A life of hustling all the time, striving for possessions and status etc is one wasted. But that’s a philosophical disagreement it seems
That’s not what I live for at all. I created a business to get my time back so I can spend it creating memories with my family, connecting with my wife, and creating memories with my kids. Cars, houses, etc don’t matter much. Just a part of the process.
Holy buzz words batman. Try toning the new words you've learned down a bit when teaching new concepts.Explain what you are talking about as you try to educate someone on an idea. Just a little FYI no normal person says continuous lead flow. Lol I've watched a bunch of these videos and they aren't bad it doesn't seem like you're really selling anything to people but some of the terminology that just sound so cookie cutter buzzword is a little off-putting.
But if they’re local meetups, i can inly cohost locally. My area is not very “touristy” and so I am planning on co-hosting remotely. How do I go about finding the right audience and pitch?
Heyaa, loved the energy🙌! I'm not really sure if it is the best time to ask but, I was wondering if I could help you create a better distribution by working on post-production like better storytelling through Edits, Keywords, think catchy intros and outros, or even some engaging short clips! Would love to chat if you're interested and keep creating good content:)
You scaled with co hosting or arbitrage? I like the idea of co hosting because of the zero risk involved just not sure how profitable it is compared to arbitrage in terms of is the juice worth the squeeze so to speak.
Anurag, as solid as ever- great podcast! I agree 💯 The far our premiums from recent years, followed by a race to the bottom at the last minute, sure make for a thrilling yet often perilous ride. Having a pulse on your pacing is so critical these days.
never stay in an airbnb - they load those things with cameras in the rooms, bathrooms and showers. Whether it's just some freak watching you naked or do your business or to come and rob and/or murder you. No good. Not regulated enough like traditional hotels.
Great interview...but would have been better if yall had directed the interview to specifics. Everyone wants to do the whole backstory motivation thing. The best part of the interview was when yall got him to talk specifics
