Great video I myself have just come back from a NZ Tahr hunt. Your video describes it so spot on. We camped in a tent, which I think I was around the corner from the cabin you must have been in. As it was the same helicopter our pilot was Malcom and the fact we seen him fly that way and my guide said, Malcom is either taking or picking up someone in the cabins. Great country and I’m hooked also.
Great video man! Just what I’ve been waiting for. I’ve got a CZ 600 and want to hunt with subsonic ammo and a can. I currently hunt goats with a silenced PCP air gun shooting 150gr hollow points at 900ft/sec giving me over 200ft/lbs on target 100m away. They drop on the spot. I’m going to set my scope at 100m with supersonics and then measure drop with subsonics at 100m and make not on the reticle for the POI. Anything small to medium under 100m range with get the subs. Speaking of subs. Subbed🙏🏆👍
Thanks man! I’m soooo overdue to get my butt back up there. I actually edited out a LOT of food shots after getting feedback from a mate that said “bro, it’s not a cooking show!”
Wooa... Man with brains... One of it's kind... Using very reliable budget rifle with internal hammer 👏👏👏👌👌👌👍👍👍 Scum with external hammer is for brainless creatures !!! Excellent video mate. LIKE 👍👍👍
Hey Nathan welcome back been wondering if you had given up on the filming.looked like an epic trip hopefully a few more vids to come appreciate all the work ya put into your channel.
Thanks Andrew! Yeah life got a little busy for the last were while launching a new business. I’m pretty keen to rip into making some more films - thanks for your support!
It’s called On Target Productions- set it up to film back country adventures for people coming to NZ for their once in a lifetime trip. I even been engaged to film for a Canadian hunting show.
Awesome stuff bro. Epic place and awesome trip with some good mates. Kudos to Bradley and Dylan for the 2nd recovery - I would not have had the guts to give that a go.
Not sure what you’re on about chap. First of all, that’s 50 metres. Secondly the group is INSIDE 3 MOA. That was the goal 1 1/2 inches or smaller at 50m - that’s head shots all day.
can’t get close enough to the wild pigs and bucks on my ranch with sub sonic 308…..they are worthless to me, however, 308 147gr hot loads…no problem shooting 0.0125 groups at 200yds zeroing
Hi. Not sure if you'll get this. I've watched all your video's . I have a bergara takedown and want to load sub sonic rounds. I have 220gr hornady sub x . What would your suggestions be? I have primers ,still trying to source trailboss powder. Hope to hear from you. Regards Robin
Hey man great video, have hunted steep slopes here in Oz , was feeling the pain when you were scrambling back up So the .308 subs, reload or factory ? I assume you are using a suppressor as well …What’s the effective range? What range did you get those deer at ??
Great stuff. Have you taken a deer with the subsonic 308 load? If yes, what range would you limit yourself to? You have been real quiet lately, enjoyed your videos. Thanks.
speed of sound changed depending on altitude etc. my 308 takes about 9gr trail boss for ideal velocity of about 1050fps with a 150gr cast projectile. i tend to favor increasing the weight of the projectile, over reducing the powder charge. I have now gone up to a 200gr cast projectiles, since i have a 1/10 twist and yet to tune the powder. i have heard a lot of people talk about projectiles stopping in the barrel, however, yet to see it in real life when you are driving the projectiles at 700-1050fps.
The Armed Tramper, Use not just subsonic bullets but put petroleum jelly in the sound suppressor and hear the difference. About the only thing that you'll hear is the snap of the firing pin snapping forward.
Ahh found pt1. That gives me the info on the rounds I was looking for. A couple of questions....do you use a filler in the cases to take up excess volume?.Or does the trail boss eliminate the need for this as its such big particles?. I've seen videos of people using the stuffing out of soft toys for a filler?. As the trail boss is large how does it throw?. Also what barrel length and twist rate are you using in your rifle?. Many thanks for the info.
16” barrel - can’t remember twist off hand, but have answered that question before so it’s in the comments here somewhere. Trail boss fills it nicely, not too loose, seems to burn well and fully. Throws fine through my hornady autocharge
