Hey! Just subscribed. Headed down for trip #2. I’m a solo diver here in California. Quick question. The “tarpon pit” is that south east of your drop spot? Then after the tarpon pit you hit the reef and you head south?

Have you ever made it to the white hole?

Also when I’m down there I can document a nav to the white hole with you! Would be fun!

Tarpon pit is probably south east, yes. I can't say for sure because I didn't just follow a compass heading exactly because there was a strong current running E/SE in the channel, so even though I was mostly swimming south, the current was taking me east. I mostly swam across the channel to the other side (south) and then followed the side of the channel since it has stuff to look at besides just sand (rocks and coral). I swam up the south side of the channel a little before the reef, mostly because it started to get deep (50'+) and I wanted to save air and bottom time for the reef further from the channel where viz is better. I have another video from Oct/Nov 2022 in my channel that shows my first dive there, and I did follow more of an exact compass heading that time, and I showed the compass many times in the video, there was no real current that dive.

@@KingdomVideography Not from shore, only boat. People use DPVs(?) and probably make it to white hole. I've heard you can walk almost all the way to white hole if you start from the south end of bay, by the restaurant. I haven't tried it.

@@KingdomVideography Google says it is 3,800 feet from where I enter to White Hole. That's further than I can go underwater, and other than Oct/Nov surface conditions would make that a puke-fest of a surface swim :D

can you give me an idea of how difficult the entry on the east coast is compared to ... say karpata? thanks

I've only done Lac Cai on the East Coast, and that entry is very easy, similar or even easier than most of West Coast. The spot where I enter is a man made wall of medium size rocks, not sharp or anything, and a few steps to deep water to put your fins on and drop down. Main difference with East Coast is the waves/surge caused by onshore winds -- to avoid those you would need to go on a day with low wind, or the rare day where the wind is blowing out of the west.

The "fart" sounds you hear are when my wife is filming, and she says it is her adjusting (pushing in) her mask... I cannot confirm or deny that.
