@@Ruf-Art-by-Tim that's amazing! Wish I could attend... truck broke down and repair costs are beyond me atm ☹️ Maybe once I'm mobile again I could do an interview with you!
Good technique with creating that spoon blank. I'm not too familiar with cottonwood bark but was wondering how porous is it? Would you use the finished cottonwood spoon for liquids or just dry goods? Thanks for the video.
I've stuck to dry goods, like tea, coffee, pet kibble, flour, etc. especially because of the way bark is layered, it can split and crack easily. The spoon's durability really depends on the piece of bark, and every piece seems unique like fingerprints. I've carved some that are hard like a rock, and others that didn't stand up to any use, and lots in between. The quality of the bark really depends on where the bark came from.
Nice, great idea, inspired to go try this myself now 😅, what kind of paint did you use, I’ve been looking for a effect exactly like this, Ty in advance and love your carve, well done sir 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@@Jesus-KingofKings-LordofLords. thx... not sir, though, sister. I used watered down acrylics, and have a video about my technique. Look for the sunflowers! 😎
Just found you through a random recommend. Great job at making it nice and smooth you could try double sided tape on the back so it won't slide off the table so much or the tape and the superglue trick. Just my opinion though.
@@cherokeesfinestindian I haven't, yet... there's certainly a ton of it around me! Probably much like the red alder I carved out on the West Coast, it would be best carved green, fresh-cut. Have you tried it?
I recently started, wood, carving, comfort, birds, comfort crosses I really like the comfort turtle. Do you have a printout pattern? I noticed in the background, maybe a magazine or a book if you could share the title
Great edit. It was an amazing event with some of the best carvers. I was the helper of the black moore goldfish. The carvings featured infront where my pieces. Thank you for posting this. It was great to meet you
