its crazy they were able to make tools with such primitive methods. Forging with a rock for a hammer and a bigger rock for an anvil... that is hard enough to do once in a while, but imagine doing that regularly... your joints would be toast within a few years. Sure the rock might absorb less heat, but you also have to work much longer and thus you would end up heating even more than you would with a proper steel hammer and anvil. besides, reheating the metal in the forge isn't that big a deal, and you can get a lot done with a single good heat if you are effecient.
Looking forward to seeing this in person. So very deep - I get the chills thinking about it but grateful that we are reimagining, remembering and honoring our ancestors in this way ♥️
Pottery making is a world wide skill but the African pottery makers seem to be able to take it to another level items found around their households that you wouldn’t think you would be able to use it make pots. I’ve seen plastic tops off containers used to smooth the sides pots and corn cobs used to make decorative designs on pots. The level of these pot makers creativity is amazing. This is the fifth video I have watched. 😊
What a fantastic educational tutorial Mr Tayo teaching us about drawing cartoons ~ and presented with such good humour and encouragement? I see Tayo you are appearing shortly in UK's London, Peckham to give a talk at Peckham Library which I hope I may be able to attend. And, thank you to Pier Penic of National Museum of African Art at the Smithsonian Museum for facilitating this wonderful RU-vid meeting with artist Tayo Fatunla.🙂
I wouldn't really associate Nasser with "African" history at all. Egypt may be on the continent of Africa but politcally and culturally it is the middle east and always has been.
And this guy, who cant even say Hendrik Verwoerd's name, should comment too on the horrendous period in SA we are all living through now, the ANC South Africa: Poverty Murders Rapes of women and children No water No electricity Pot holes Crime and violence Pit toilets..... Human rights abuses are worse now than ever! 🤬 At least things functioned and there was law and order in the old SA.
