snipers and rangers are devastating. in vanilla, i always took 2 snipers and 2 rangers on every mission. the snipers tear the enemy apart at range, especially with their 2 killzones. the rangers easily flank, annihilate tough targets and get back to cover with excellent protection with their run and gun, grapple, implacable, untouchable, wraith armor and sometimes rapid fire. the combination is overpowering. the grenadier can help with shredding, splash and armor + cover removal. holo targeting helps too. specialist is usually there just in case...or to asist with overwatch, hacking and healing. i would consider replacing him with another one of the other classes though.
Probably old news but with reaper and team sight, a Sharpshooter can erase entire maps without being shot at. Dont even have to one shot as long as you have LOS
To ease the pain a bit, there was an Advent MEC in the first group that that EMP bomb killed so the sniper didn't have to. :) It's briefly visible at 0:22.
My friend added me to his game as a psionic troop, I went berserk on 1hp and killed 3 dudes without getting hit, afterwards one of his troops who took 3 damage was off for 2 weeks while I was out for 6 days
I made a squad of soldiers based on my family, my dad was the sniper (which was accurate he was a damn good shot irl) and he usually killed everything he shot, whether it was using the rifle, or the QuickDraw/ face off perks for the pistol, whereas I, the heavy, couldn't hit shit 🤣🤣🤣
i always had two snipers on my team. "reaper" and "ace" one invested completely into rifle perks and the other took a few pistol perks. they were good.
After playing many many hours of XCOM 2 I have come to the conclusion that Snipers in this game are not human. They are death angels sent by God himself to reap the unclean and cleanse the Earth of the xeno invaders. Reapers on the other hand are bunch of tryhard edgy emo kids.
I remember I had a sniper whos random skill was run & gun. It was awesome. Since it grants one extra movement, it allowed me to move and then fire my sniper rifle
In my co-op game I played, (basically me and my brother on the couch watching me play), we had a random generated man, I think, but we don’t remember his real name, we just call him “Lanky” and omg he could miss, and nearly critically shot every one he did. It was not to last, he helped carry our rookies to the top, as he became better by the day. We attacked the final mission against the elders, and he was taking on fucking everything from so far. But once we got to the the final room, the elders must of realized he was there and eliminated him in sight. He was the first from the O.G. gatecrasher mission. We literally stopped to reconcile over our fallen soldier, and we won the battle, but at the cost of a great man..you will live on Lanky, ur sniper stays with us through each game…even if he ain’t there, his skills will pass on
i had a game in enemy unknown where in the tutorial only one soldier lived. argentinian Ivan Marquez. he was a heavy. he kicked fucking ass. i had two badass assault guys "walker" and "psycho".
