I had 4 Saabs between 1993 and today. I loved each one for varying reasons. I particularly miss my 2004 95 Aero Wagon. Saabs are truly special.

Seems like you cribbed a lot of content from other more in-depth videos about Saab history. You could have at least credited the others.

Saab went bankrupt because once GM took over, Saab's cars were basically crappy GM cars. Thanks to all the geniuses at GM for killing a great car and car brand.

Since you posted this video the SAAB stock went up 55%. Saab makes weapons and airplanes not only cars. You could rename video SAAB Automobiles so you dont mislead people. I found this video watching videos of airplanes

No mention of the Viggen yet inclusion of the TrollBlazer and Saabaru seems like someone didn't research their subject very thoroughly. They put a bunch of eggs into the Viggen basket which did not pay off. That story is not in your video.

As someone who's had 3 Saab's and still have 1 today, first being a m reg 94 ,18 months old 900 2.0 Turbo se convertible , followed by 55 plate 05 93 vector convertible 2.0 Turbo followed by a 93 sportwagon vector 1.9cdti which I've had around 10 years, by far the best was the 900 Turbo quality build wise, that car was faultless in around 8 - 9 years I owned never failed an MOT, the 2 93s haven't been bad cars , probably the worst is the diesel sportwagon , I had the same 150 bhp 1.9 16V Engine in a 07 Astra had the had adsatly the same problems EGR valves in particular both cars. The Astra plant at Ellesmere port was also the V6 engine plant for Europe with Saab have a production line, I attended the V6 plant at Ellesmere many times as I was for 15 years a metrology technician dimensional Engineer and responsible for all Engineering dimensional and deviation Engineering reports for Hydro Aluminium and Opel/vauxhall were a customer I was only responsible for the head left and right hand not block . I've also been to Kaiserslautern Vauxhall's sister Opel plant in Germany.

I worked as a mechanic at a dealer from 89 to 91. They sold 3 cars a month, yet worked on 10 a day! Once Lexus and Infinity were in show rooms, Saab was done. Crazy stuff like maintenance flooded batteries, water pump leaks, bent rims, bent front trans pans, tail light assemblies, etc...I once had to fix a 9000 that the customer was involved with Saab corporate and after several others it came to me. For a company that made only 2 vehicles, I saw several recalls (including one that burned a person's house down), and stupid stuff like welds that were not finished, wires that were mis-matched on connectors, etc. The manager would comment how chevy had many more vehices towed in. One february their was a cold snap and my cavalier was one of the few that made it in to the dealer. The older 8 valves with mechanical fuel injection started, but not the new 16 valves..It's not like Sweden is a Caribbean country that has never experienced low temperatures. GM wasn't the downfall, it kept them afloat after scania separated and the cost of developing the new jets. You can keep those crazy looking cars. I will stick to my Lexus.

But you saying they burned down someone's house has me wondering if there is something you can tell me about this particular model. Let me know!

I loved all my Saabs! I have owned a new 99 in 1977..an EMS, a new 1986 SAAB 900, and a new 1992 9000. I have owned used 9000s and a used 900. The 99 was awesome, but my 1986 900 was going great at over 300000 miles of use. I loved the bumpers! So easy to parallel park and not worry about the front or rear bumpers being damaged by a bad driver. My 1992 9000 saved our lives in a bad rear end crash with my young children. The safety features of the accordion reaction of the SAAB when it was being hit from behind protected all 4 of us. Thank goodness SAAB insisted on safety first and not money. The body shop at the dealer did a great job fixing the car. It was very close to being totaled with only 4,000 miles on it. Linda Connecticut

LOL, My first car I bought in 1989 was a Saab 96 we called the Flintstone because the floor board was rusted out I just cut wood boards and place them under for floor mates to keep our feet from going though I paid 180 dollars for that car and it was fun the next one I bought in 1997 was a Saab 900 it was the cool car until the turbo went out.

Lol, yes they were/are really ugly. Except the last 9-5. That single one is rather nice. The engineering was pretty cool though. Too bad they never could stick to their original plans, instead they always had to make compromises due to lack of money.

My father is a Saab enthusiast/collector, and my little brother, who still lives at home, has picked up the mantle. Together they have a shitload of them, including 96, 99, 900, 9000, 9-3 and 9-5. I would say they have at least 3 of each until 9000. Some automatics, some Griffins, some with 3 doors, some with 5 - there's variety (except that I think there's only one wagon, as my brother hates them). My brother just got his license, 1 year before the regular age because he's going to a school to become a logistics driver, so he fixed up a red 900 Turbo as his first car. I like that I can be around these classic models, as I don't like any new cars. I think that for years now most brands and models have started looking more and more like each other, either the same bloated, round look or the same "SUV" look - modern Saabs look like shit, too. Anyway, thanks for the video, now I understand why they so often ask each other about whether something is GM or not. I think this is why they emphasize some of their vehicles using the official Scania badges / stickers.

I never know much about Saab until I was looking for a used car, I found one that i kinda like, when I dugged deeper into its history, I'm amazed at how the 9000 was design and built, I went for a test drive and I fell in love, still driving it. It is the best deal I can get for a used luxury sedan, it is cheap and its maintainance cost is lower than German coutnerparts.
