The basic movements contained in most knife choreographies. Now to be able to use it, you spar against knives, or Escrima sticks or Japanese Bokken or the Chinese spear or the Chinese staff (from any art). That gets you the proper positioning, awareness, timing, speed and power. The knife provides extra footwork needed to deal with highly mobile opponents or opponent's good with kicking. Hundreds of hours have to be put in so this is just the first step. The form doesn't look like much and every lineage has their own form because the form was not really taught.
I started with traditional martial arts when I was eight and through the years did boxing/kickboxing/muay thai and researched specifically "self defense" oriented methodologies. while enjoyable to learn and do imo 90% of traditional martial arts content doesn't really teach you how to truly move for actual defense and/or fight for survival and it doesn't teach you how to develop a tactical mind set for daily life you just put all the time and effort into memorizing techniques and drills to climb that belt or sash or what ever worthless arbitrary ranking system.

😅 I could see why you would say that I hope you speak chinese..🤔 I can't either, but I do understand wing chun techniques Names in chinese. From what I can gather, it's not snake oil. He's just using the fact that he can speak chinese to better elaborate on the concept of Flowing with an attack while on the inside, As well as not conditioning yourself to follow a specific form, but follow the line and focus the attack, Using the bridge in this case, the enemy hitting you to link in and stick to them instead of falling to a safer position.. By my best estimation.
it’s hard to understand if you’re not there to feel the energy and even if he explains it you will still wont understand it until you do more chi sao… the wing chun masters i’ve learned under all admit that they are also students forever learning and they ask me not to call them master
@@DxModel219 Yeah the only other styles that use that feeling out are Boxing and Muay Thai. But mainly just in the Clench and Pointblank. Most just Parry Instead of Learning to Redirect into a Trap. This is one area I think all Boxing Styles Highly Limit themselves in. If done right you get at least one Free Solid Hit.
very interesting, in fact you are searching for the least resistance all the time. But I thought a lot of wing chun lineages want to keep the centre line at all times. But you also move to the left to break the structure if you dont suceed you just find another way to release the force, thnx for upload.
It's a good principle, I'd like to see it with a pad or glove at full speed throwing a decent punch. This IMO is the step that traditional and reality based systems leave out.
The way the coach stares into the guys eyes while teaching this sloppy, low success rate move lol… I would love to see any blue belt roll with this guy
Very help full! Usually people teach to use gan sau for blocking round house, but i think u gonna break ur arm because there is no muscle in gan sau. So better to use kwan sau wich is low bong sau. Even know bong sau not that strong addlist there some muscle and helped with tan sau muscle. Nice tips and Keep up the good work!
