I had completely forgotten about this little guy until his single, still-image cameo in Eggular Game accusing the player of not remembering him, which then awakened something deep within my ancient lizard brain.
Republic Commando was when the droids were at their absolute best and most intimidating. Battle droids were the infantry that moved tactically and voiced commands in their monotone voice. And SBDs, the baritone voiced hulking tanks that took everything you shot at them while blasting you at long range and caving in your skull at close range. And then sometimes, after you think you’ve killed one, it suddenly decides “Nope, not done yet.” And keeps blasting.
I can play it on today's modern system and it works great! My next experiment will be to do the same thing but with my desktop synced to my Oculus Quest 2 to see if the animations has more pop to it in VR.
