Beautiful story and a great tribute to Sam and his Cub. I’m sure Sam is smiling down on you and always your co pilot. I have my late grandfathers J-3 Cub. Restored it from 2017-2021. Yes you bet, I made a shroud at the bottom of the exhaust that will collect warm air around the exhaust and direct it into the carburetor by a push/pull cable to protect from carb icing. And as for a cowling, it can be done but I prefer the looks of seeing the radial. Thanks for reaching out.

I have a vr3 tubing kit for a widebody cub and a set of javron wings collecting dust. Sad to hear about Sam, I was trying to keep up with his progress on the apex cub and didn't realize why the project went dark 😔
Yes it was devastating news, such a great guy gone to soon. You should definitely blow the dust off that kit and wings, would love to see it come together 👊🏼
@@ShaneMadson I have a Prince P tip prop on my Rotax 912 powered plane, I have been told numerous times by other pilots that the prop makes a "radial engine" like sound, something about those tips....,
It would be a dream come true for me to be a pilot. I can't do HVAC anymore due to being ran over by a truck while on my motorcycle which messed up my right knee. I would happily be your shop guy if you would be willing to help me out. I would send you a resume but it would probably just make you laugh at how pathetic it makes me look because the official resume only covers official work so mine is full of holes between seemingly unrelated jobs. Im not the type of guy that traditional companies like but if you gave me a shot I would blow your mind.
