When my brother and I played coop campaign legendary, this level was the absolute bane of our existence. Every other level was difficult, but manageable. This one would definitely test your absolute patience and determination. It took us days to beat it when we were much younger. We would wipe away sweat every time we made it to a checkpoint. And those rocket launcher flood seeming to randomly pop up out of nowhere can blow me.
When you think about it, Halo's premise was already kind of a horror story. You have a massive faction of multiple alien races in the middle of a vicious genocide campaign against our species, under the guise of a false religion. But then we learn what the "Sacred Rings" are really for, and the stakes are taken into maximum overdrive.
Well yeah, the aliens are all CGI, obviously. So are the needlers. Everything else is in this video is real though. Real guns shooting real bullets, and real space marines unlocking real doors.
7:07 is so HORRIFYING because this soldier is firing at his own dude out of pure fear of the flood, the fact that he is on the verge of tears of FEAR at the idea of being turned like his friends is so fucking terrifying
I was probably 8 years old when I played the mission sacred icon in Halo 2. I was scared shitless of the popcorn jumping on me. Didn’t play for a few weeks before I mustered up the courage to play again lmao
I remember being the fresh age of 21 playing this when it came out, and absolutely disliked the flood stages. Really missed when it was just fighting the covenant. Such a good game.
My buddy and I would often quote the marines from the games, when we played, so when we first encountered the flood he literally yelled, "get back up so I can kill you again" at the combat form, and it did, and we never forgot how awesome Halo was for that.
You're better off playing the MCC version on your computer, it's had a lot of improvements since the 2011 remake, including a lot of fixes of things they messed up in the port compared with the original Xbox game. The MCC is really cheap, especially if you get it in a sale.
When I was a kid, I LOVED Halo...right up to the flood. And as soon as I got to the forest I said "oh, this is just the game now?" And stopped playing. Eventually I did go back to finish the game but the flood was too much for me back then

When i was a kid my mom had her own buissness and her computer was outside the house in a shed. I used to play halo on it. I was so scared to walk back to the house after this mission. Core memory for sure.
I felt none of what they're supposedly feeling or going through, i was riveted when i first played this back 2001/2. I just wannid to keep going, there's a threat so you shoot don't think. Just react.
