Why is it when i select yes to planets orbiting, when i start my game i never see them move even after hours on a sped up orbit speed?

Everyone complains that there’s no good RTS’s coming out in recent years, and here you have a polished amazing sequel at launch, and y’all can’t get over 40-60$. How the hell do you expect all these games to be made if you can’t dish out 40$ to partake? I’m not sure how much I paid for the original title but I bet it was around the same cost 16 years ago.

The AI art is horrible and the lack of settings options was painful for me. Seems that even with a year on EPIC they never thought we may need options to make gameplay better. The first reply on Steam was a dev saying [paraphrased] "our engine is boss, it doesnt need options", with a rebuttal update quickly after saying "gosh we were wrong, oops, we'll try and give you some options asap" I dont have much faith in Stardock, but I'll cross my fingers they address my concerns. Have fun.

Honestly, get used to AI art, every game developer is going to start using it everywhere all the time now to save on costs. It also won't be just 2D art, a lot of the 3D assets, music, sound effects etc will all be AI and tweaked by humans. Full game assets done completely by human artists is something you will only see in indie titles going forward.

I was going to buy this the moment I saw it on steam. Then realised that the £40 base game only gets you minimum skirmish options. Single player game and extra race (as in the extra content which would be sins 2 over the original) is only on premium at £80.. naw.. I'll wait and get it on 75% off in a couple years.

I only just recently updated my GPU to a 6800XT and joy.. the likes of cyberpunk and total war war3 buttery smooth on near max settings.. mmm..like saying some prefer sex to be a slow endurance marathon not a sprint. Maybe this game actually is the improvement on the beloved series that Homeworld 3 could not be for its franchise. I wanted to wait for the Star Trek and Star Wars mods to come out but the Steam reviews are rather positive and the more videos I watch, the more I am intersested to try it now.

Do it. I have bought it and if you love the first game, you will love this. There is less in terms of ships (2 corvettes, 5 frigates, 5 cruisers, 5 capitals and 1 titan for each faction) but everything is tighter and more streamlined. For example a lot of capitals now have point defense and so have the starbases. Every faction specialises in something like TEC are the only ones using credits and trade, vasari are even more on their phase bullshit again and the advent now can literally brainwash people they are dominating with the unity.

A well cut and very well narrated video thank you. The only nitpick I could find is that the given years of 3,000 to 4,000 and time frames do not quite seem to aligne with the offical timelines, which mentiones a great shism of humanity ~ 7,500 to 5,000 years ago and gives the war duration since arrival of the Vasari of around 35 years.

I enjoy this game a lot of some reason. It requires a certain kind of person for sure to get enjoyment out of it. Probably why it has very VERY low player steam numbers. Like very low. Less than 1000. and usually less than 700, which has me worried that the company will go belly up well before this game every gets to a 1.0. One of my biggest problems with the game is the micromanagement is insane mid to late game. I am still struggling with the switchover from Earth based focus to space based. I almost always find myself in a situation where I missed some fine detail anywhere in the solar system because I was so focused on another area of the solar system for that 1 turn and the AI being AI is immediately able to exploit that mistake. It can be fun but also extremely annoying at the same time because I find myself having to do a checklist every turn... Are all my defend interests in key places still up? Did my public opinion drop anywhere in those key areas massively because the AI is dogpiling public campaigning? Is my mission control okay so that no habs or ships defect? etc etc... It can get tedious.

Technically, the Servants are the easiest to play, the Resistance is the easiest of the "hostile to aliens" factions. Probably - I don't know if there is really that much difference between Humanity First and Resistance. In a general sense, the phases of the game from my experience are: 1) Early Game : Secure Research, Mission Control, $$ Cash, Popular support, and Boost resources via controlling nations. 2) Boost into space : You need to research techs to reduce cost to enter space, secure generally at least 1 moon base to help you get to Mars or the Asteroid Belt for beginning the space game. Additionally, in this phase you need to research & complete your line of "story" techs and objectives, ultimately to unlock your first faction organization and get to the strategic deception tech which allows you to greatly expand your space presence. 3) Construct Earth orbital infrastructure to vastly improve your tech speed and nation building. Secure a nation or group of nations with at least 4 armies with attached navies for earth defense against invasion which generally start occuring 2031+. The smaller military force you have, the more you should have nukes to supplement them. Begin killing Alien councillors and reducing alien flora and fauna on earth. 4) Develop techs and resources for defense fleets (Drive, power source, weapons, armor) around main solar bodies that you have invested in. At some point aliens will transition to total war against you, and it will become a race between your space infrastructure and fleet building vs the aliens increasing attacks, as you need to transition into first clearing aliens, servants, and protectorate out of the inner solar system and asteroid belt. 5) ultimately send invasion fleets to clear the aliens off of Jupiter and Beyond. Also, through until the early late game (Where your control of an overwhelming % of earth control points will set a negative relationship cap with most or all other factions) you should make efforts to bribe the other factions and judge the impact of your decisions upon the other factions before taking them. The AI does not react like a "Human". It treats anyone which has taken enough actions against them as being at war with them, and doesn't treat the aliens as a "greater" threat. Since your councillors, control points, and stations will often be an easier target than aliens, being an a**hole to other factions can see you dogpiled by 30 enemy councillors AND the aliens. And assassinating their councillors doesn't make them go away, it just makes them hate and target you more. The Inter-faction diplomacy game is one of the more important aspects of the game that players aren't prepared for.

@pinegulf not really. A game this complex is going to get a lot of feedback about balance, how well systems work, and features which would improve the game. They recently released a major patch which addressed a lot of feedback and introduced new features, like command ships and officers on ships which survive combat. It is, however, a long game that takes a lot of time to play.

I think the game would be SO much better if you played as a country instead of a wierd nebulous shadow organisation. It isn't fun in the early game and it doesn't feel like you're doing anything. I tried making North Korea an economic powerhouse as my base, since I couldn't infiltrate USA or China except from an event, but I couldn't do anything, I couldn't build a second army and every boost on their economy was like 0.1%. Just felt like I was sitting around as research slowly increased, none of the interactions I could do were meaningful with the other factions except taking control of minor countries which does nothing for anyone because they don't even give you much money. Eventually I now had some points in USA and I just wanted to do something so I invaded South Korea, but China didn't join despite being allies and America joined despite me trying to make them not. I got a space station but couldn't do anything with it. Really dull and frustrating game. The factions make no sense and I don't like playing them. You have no impact on countries you even completely control. You can't do much to sabotage your rivals. The threat is not immediate nor scary or even that dangerous seeming. The roleplay and immersion is really bad, I wish crashed ships would be more like archaeological sites in Stellaris. Honestly from what I have played the aliens suck. I don't even get why they are baddies. The resistance faction just assumes they are coming to invade when I haven't even talked to them. Maybe Earth should have just been unified, but not rich in all areas, so you have to juggle economic development with space colonisation, building megaprojects, and warfare with aliens. Though I don't think we would survive a war with interstellar aliens anyway, they could just throw a missile at Earth at the same speed they were flying through interstellar space at and it would blow the planet up.

@jiiaga5017 4 месяца назад
I think you missed a gigantic point - and I just caught the byline I haven't gotten a chance to fully read the notes so maybe I'm in error - that they are changing how mission control interacts with large space bodies is calculated is a *gigantic* change to the mid and early-late game. You probably can't go for things like fully investing in mercury and mars and ceres, having very limited ship defense and sneaking a lot of extra tech boosters onto those ground stations. You're probably going to need to just prioritize the highest yield sites, period, to avoid overtopping your mission control and invest way more on building it early on, and your mission control inflating with more space bodies is going to mean you need to run a much leaner space economy early.

@@scifigron Not at all, I came here for a review/overview of the notes and that's what I got :) Mission control was just the 1 item I'd noted in passing, but which has possibly large implications which you didn't cover :) . I don't know what they might have done on the back-end to mitigate that though - they might have increased the number of stations you can operate before starting into mission control inflation, or reduced the inflation factor. Or they might just be wanting to push people into more focused research objectives and a later mid-game. I'm more thinking I had a campaign in the late-mid game I always meant to come back to, and now I'm curious what my used mission control is with the new scaling, lol.

In my opinion they really need to add a priority planning system to the tech tree. not necessarily a que like in civ but just a way to give a tech a priority favorite so its easy to find and to remind you what you wanted to research. my biggest issue with the game is the complexity of tech and that there is no way to keep track of it or to properly search the tech tree for what you gain from the tech. If I stop playing for a couple of days and come back to it I have no clue where I left off and tech is by far the biggest issue there, I can figure out the stations and agents. I basically spend too much time reading tech and figuring out what I need/want or finding specific tech I need like for example tech to reduce the cost to mars. filtered/keyword search and a favorite system would be a huge QOL improvement in my opinion.
