NIGEL in Canada🇨🇦 the KINKS audience was 'rowdy' aggressive young guys some 'venues' got trashed and stuff got broken promoters don't like paying for an audiences vandalism so the girls came to the BEATLES concerts and the worst they did was pee themselves which band do you think got more work then ?
Nigel in Canada🇨🇦 being a professional 🎵🎶 musician and looking back ? it appears the KINKS were the first 'rock band' the BEATLES were called a 'vocal' group the STONES were called a 'blues' group 'You Really Got Me' was the first 'rock' song in my opinion Chuck Berry and the like were 'rock n roll' that's different Carl Perkins was 'rockabilly' , different again
Not a huge fan of the album, but the suite itself is incredible. For some reason I keep seeing myself coming back to listen to the thing in it's entirety
The fight between "hippies" and so called alternative "indie crowds" continues boringly on. People like reed merely use insult to define themselves {In their view}. But it's pretentious flimflam himself.
It has to be something by godspeed you black emporer. hard to pick cause a lot of their discog is over 20 mins long, but storm is deffinatly one of my favorites by them.
I think Zappa was a bit pretentious but also was very smart and saw through a lot of the bullshit in the world, I think he was and still is very misunderstood. He made the music he liked making and didn’t care for beating around the bush or trying to please anyone. He had just as much fun playing for a single audience member as a full concert venue
For me, I really love Suppers Ready, Tarkus, and Plauge of Light house keepers. All are really awesome prog songs that give me chills each time i listen to them, especially Suppers Ready!
I love your videos, but for the love of christ man round the strokes on your type. The way you have jagged spikes shoot out a mile off your captions is gonna give me a stroke.
No one really talks about how great Zappa's music was. That's because his music wasn't great. It was weird and had a freak show appeal to it like Cheech and Chong.
I own almost the entire Zappa discography, from FREAK OUT to CIVILIZATION PHAZE III, and I've never felt the need to purchase any VU/Lou Reed discs. He had one hit -- "Take a Walk on the Wild Side" -- and it was alright, but that's it. The only limitations Zappa ever had was the talent of the musicians he had in his band(s) being able to play the intricate things he wrote. Lou's band didn't have the talent to do a cover version of "Inca Roads" but I suspect Zappa's band(s) could easily have done covers of any VU song.
weird amount of hate for neil here, i dunno. i like people who are different, i don't care if they say mean things about stuff i enjoy. neil's weird and i love him for it.
The full shine on you crazy diamond is a great track as well, in my opinion better then echoes. Also, the song dogs is exceptional as well but it is a bit ahorter
The Mothers of Invention clearly had far more musical skill than the Velvet Underground. I think there was jealousy involved. I like both bands, but they’re different.
Frank had more talent than the entire Velvet Underground. What he needed was a band that could play his music and he ultimately found players like George Duke, Chester Thompson, Steve Vai, Ruth Underwood and others.
Zappa was right. Of all the major 60's bands, I'd say that The Velvet Underground was the worst. I'd put almost any minor garage or psych band over them.
