I am just a regular guy and a father of 5 boys (4 of them men now). I am a tool junkie. I am also a car nut. I am going to share with you my opinions, experiences and reviews on several products. We are going to look at cars, guns, tools, and all kinds of home repairs and improvements. We are going to not focus on the technical details. You can get that info anywhere. We are going to focus on the every day and practical side of things.
Whatever you guys like and respond to I will bring more of. I hope you enjoy the content. Please subscribe, thumbs up and hit that notification bell on my videos.
@@rickcormier9160 Glad to know I wasn’t the only one. Good to hear from you Rick. I hope if not subscribed you will. I look forward to the next conversation.
Can not thank you enough also about the Locking bolts also. The directions were useless. When you snapped the bolt down my wife and I said OMG. Also how you snapped the door hinges in.
I've seen them called many things. But frameless shower door sweep should get you where you need to go. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B093ZSVBVP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 is the one I got. But I learned if they didn't make your shower entry with a slope down into the shower (like mine) it's only going to work so so. The one I bought after this was www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09Z72Q5XN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 and it's 1000X better but it doesn't have as clean of a look.
Beautiful interactive video. All of you Dad's future and present pay attention to how he allowed his SON to participate and think through with hands on experience instead of just watching him do it. This is the way to instill confidence in your children boys or girls! His son will never forget the time his Father invested in him. BEST DAD EVER!
I could not be more appreciative of the kind words. I’m not always this good. I sometimes get in too much of a hurry. But I really appreciate you noticing. I got a lot of comments like this too on my garage door insulation video where I have a lot of teaching moments. Again, I appreciate so much the kind words and look forward to the next conversation.
Thanks for posting. You are correct, to most of us who still have common sense it is self explanatory and no printed insteuctions are required. I could see even myself putting the first bolt in opposite to what it should be, then switching it the proper way. Cheers
Thanks Daryl. Always so good to have your support. Finally have some videos ready to go. I have 3 more in line about every 10 days or so. Good hearing from you as always.
It is nice looking, but. It has a plastic lower, a plastic mainspring link, mag safety, and way too expensive. I found a baby rock.380 that's all steel and identical too a 1911 minus breech lock for $300 used but lnib. I did have to do some work, like a trigger job and polishing the trigger, hammer, and extractor, now it's beautiful, and 100% reliable. It's also my favorite edc right now. I'm sorry, but I can't take all of the plastic, and safety bs or the high price. Thanks for sharing.
Well, Jack when you start talking about Rock Island you have my attention. I love Rock Island. My favorite pistol that I own is a RI 10mm. Absolutely love it. As far as the video is concerned I fell like it was over priced too. I really didn't keep it long. It was very comfortable to shoot and it looked nice but that's where it ends. I appreciate the comments, hope you subscribe if not already and I look forward to our next conversation.
Thank you very much for that advice. I'm going to purchase an FN 509 EDGE CC LS. I hope I don't have that problem. I use regular ammo with my SIG 365 LS and Taurus and never had an issue with them. I'm crossing my fingers I don't have a problem with the FN 509 EDGE CC LS Glad u brought that up. Good advice. Thanks for that tip. Have a nice and blessed day🙏
@@DadsGarageDIY I was an early adopter, bought my CC Edge literally the week they hit the market. Full disclosure, I'm a massive FN fan and have over 60 of their firearms. Having said that, my CC Edge required over 800 rounds of 124g +P to break it in. It felt like homework. It runs flawlessly now with any 124g range ammo, but boy did it jam alot during break in.
@@ryancoffee339 I'm a huge FN fan myself. I'm just too impatient. I just want them to run right out of the box. Some just aren't meant to work that way. Glad you suffered through the breakin and it's a fine firearm now. Thanks Ryan and great hearing from you!
@DadsGarageDIY yeah, my theory is its because in general, 1911's are heavier guns made for bigger calibers, and 9mm just doesn't have the energy to operate that slide properly. I'm a little bias though because im a sucker for being traditional, so if you get a 1911, .45acp Is the way to go. I love the 10mm round also but don't know much about the 1911's
@@NorthCountryOutdoors522 I have the same thoughts on 9mm in a 1911. You would think that the manufacturers would take that into account. I like the way the 45 1911's shoot a lot. I have such a big crush on the 10mm though. I currently have 2 1911's. 1 in 9mm and the other in 10mm.
Very glad to hear Tanner. You are very welcome. Hope you will subscribe and find other good videos for you. Really appreciate it and I look forward to our next conversation.
Been wanting one of these they are really cool. If you are a browning fan like me you should check out the BLR 81 rifle they are a mag fed lever action.
@@matthewbarber3153 Cool. Let me know how it works. I did this over 3 years ago now. Works about half the time for me but 100% for the wife. I almost never drive it so I think I just don’t get the timing one the 3 clicks right. I look forward to hearing back about the one you try.
I use ramps alone but using jack stands is definitely that smarter thing to do. I should use and would recommend. You can never be too safe. If you have a failure game over and you only get one try at the "game". Great question! Look forward to our next conversation.
If you only got 11 days, I am wondering if your recliner has a USB port which is a constant drain even if not charging a phone or tablet. My new recliner arrives tomorrow and first thing I'll do is locate the USB power supply and disconnect that. And eventually maybe add a switch, but first of all, I will disconnect it. Can you tell me if my guess is correct? I would like to know! Thx!
Mine does have usb ports but I have never used them. Now that the kids have moved out the battery lasted a little longer. I have now gone through a few more that will no longer charge. I'm tired of buying batteries and I'm now just running the cord across the floor and hoping not to trip. When I get another one I'm going to try one from my furniture store that I got the recliner from. He assured me his would last longer per charge and in general than these that I'm getting on Amazon. Please let me know how what you get and how it goes for you.
@@toddswisher It is pretty good. It's the best of the ones I've tried. But I would try a different one. 12-18 months just isn't reasonable for the cost in my opinion.
I don't think you have to be old and cranky for that to be intolerable. I believe a tool such as a gun should be 100%. Really appreciate the comment Rick! Look forward to the next conversation.
@@DadsGarageDIY 1911s totally have the cool factor. But, I’ve got a Glock 23 I bought in 1997. Probably ten thousand rounds through it. 40 and 9mm. One malfunction ten years ago, using an original mag. Replaced it, zero since. One malfunction in 27 years. The reliability has spoiled me.
I looked at insulating my door, but it has these hinges within the door and it doesn’t have the typical borders / frames I see on all these doors in videos.
I have multiple handguns and like you live in Texas ( Fort Worth) area started out going with a p365 9mm w/ optics then realized carrying it especially in the summer just heavy then I decided to go with a p365 380 with a little hotter ammo and extend mag then put laser on and carry I mean excellent gun
That's awesome. I get the summer thing. I used to have a summer and winter carry. Now I go with just the one year around. Good having you here on the channel, love your name, and I am not that far from you.
I have an early edition Defender purchased in 1998. The current Defender is way better looking than mine with hi profile sights and standard Colt grip instead of Novak sights and beavertail grips on current Defenders. Yet, Colt advertised this firearm with Novak sights and beavertail grip back in 1998, so I was "fooled" as were many others. At least my Defender had 2 magazines with orange PVC coating on the magazine followers to show empty magazine or prevent the follower from "chewing" into the frame.
@@DadsGarageDIY Yes I do shoot this Defender and it still has the Hogue rubber grips on it. In addition I recently upgraded the recoil spring to the Kimber Ultra version of recoil spring which makes disassembly easier. I have carried this Defender concealed in my Maxpedition shoulder bag and my Fobus holster for on person carry.
Hard to beat those old 1911’s. I’ve never held/shot the Defender though. Wonder how it would fit in my hand. On another note, how’d yall make it through those storms a few weeks ago?
The older I get the more I love 1911's. This thing conceals so well in a leather holster. I love it. Seems like all 1911's other than "mini" 1911's like the Browning's fit me really well despite not having very big hands.
Sorry it took me so long on the response. I did just check the manual again and it is showing 5.7 quarts. I was looking at a 2023 model manual. Not sure the year on yours. Were you able to figure it out?
@@Dontgetenslaved Just like any gun depends on the one you get. I haven't had time with the one I just got yet. But my 10mm has been flawless. Not a single hiccup. Although I did have a double stack 10mm a few years ago that had jamming issues. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
@@DadsGarageDIY oh, I will let you know. I've been on a .380 kick here lately. Got a Glock 25 and it's been flawless. The Baby Rock has been on my radar for a while now, and I've put it off due to mixed reviews. They put it on clearance so I figured now was my time to try it. I've got various loads in FMJ and HP so I plan on testing it thoroughly. If it works, it's going to be my cross draw van gun for work. Most of the recent review videos are %95 positive about it, so I hope I have some luck. It dry cycles fine so that's a good start at least.
We Lefties have been adapting to things designed for you right handed guys our entire lives, so while an ambi safety is a nice bonus, it’s not a necessity to run a 1911 as a left handed shooter.
Great info. My Air Force son is a lefty. He hasn't gotten into 1911's yet. But after getting back from deployment he's going to get a lot of 1911 experience.
Thank you. He is. This was just a year ago. If you’ve seen a recent video you will see he’s now almost as tall as me. Thanks again. I appreciate the kind words.
