I am a professional wildlife photographer living on a tiny sailboat. My eyes are failing but i refuse to surrender, so I am doing my photography from a boat, where I am safe from traffic and other obstructions.
This is more of a variety channel that follows my many interests. You will find videos about astronomy, tiny house living, construction, sailing, photography, animals and so many other subjects on this channel. I hope you join us for my adventures.

I have maybe a dumb question. How do they get photos and videos of bears in their dens with their young? I have seen things like this on some documentaries and am wondering how on earth they do this. Any help would be appreciated. I like the presentation style of this gent and learned a lot. I live in PA which has Black Bears and no Grizzlies. Thank you.

Thank you, Moose. I am in the same boat, with a 14" Meade LX200GPS. I've been looking into using a tripod game host with a stated capacity of 500 pounds. I am working out the geometry of hanging the OTA, which weighs about 100 pounds, and then placing the scope tripod underneath. Like you, I do not want to downsize! Hear, hear, brother!

I do not agree that you messed up. You shot for the stars and maybe got the moon. That is how successful people do things. Ok, you are not sailing around the world, but you are obviously still sailing somewhere. It seems you might be able to charter wildlife cruises for shutterbugs, as long as you have a crewman, given your eyesight. You could give talking tours (Disney style) about photography, wildlife and habitats. Perhaps you could find someone who needs a crew job at the marina you will be staying at, and pay them from the charter revenue.That would seem to fit your various goals and and values. The stuff success is made of. Godspeed, your Moosketeers are pulling for you.

Very great video! I need an affordable backup camera for my R5 and it looks like the R7 could just be that. It really seems like the people who are having AF issues are in the spray-and-pray camp. And I personally cannot justify getting another R5 body if it is mostly used as a backup camera anyway and sometimes as a second video angle for interviews. Right now I am just waiting to get a good deal for the R7 as I only need it for my trips next year.
@MooseHenderson1
@MooseHenderson1 14 дней назад
I would agree it is a wonderful backup. I especially like it combined with the 100-500 as that effectively is 150-750, a great reach combo. The R5 will be much better in lower light and dynamic range. The R6 Mk 2 seems to be one of the best for low light

Hi Moose, I’m really trying to get this. I so want to understand and use manual, but I was confused at about 5:30 in the video where you said you were going to “drop your exposure down a little bit”. I’m wondering what part of the exposure did you drop? I got lost. Can you tell us what you changed? Thank you! I’ve made a folder in my phone where I keep the notes from each class. Need to learn how the histogram works, too. How can I tell if it’s “blowing out the whites”? What does a balanced histogram look like? Maybe you’ll cover that in a later video. Loving it so far. Thanks again! 👍
@MooseHenderson1
@MooseHenderson1 23 дня назад
Will respond tonight when I have more time for a detailed response. There are videos on my site about histograms, maybe do search in my channel for histogram. I do plan to redue them but they should be a good start
@MooseHenderson1
@MooseHenderson1 22 дня назад
Dropping my exposure refers to the fact that I am photographing a white bird and I do not want the whites to loose detail because of overexposure. This is a concept we will cover in much more detail as we dive deeper and deeper into this class. For now, we should concentrate on photographing average scenes and learning how to set exposure for average scenes, then we can step into more difficult scenes. Thanks so much for jumping on board and asking specific questions, your participation charges me up to do this series and also shows me how to do the series. Thank you
