Thanks for the update. I really like that you added the three yellow marker lights by the grill like the modern Ford PU's. Looking forward to hearing the F-1 fired up.
@@martyscncgarage5275 we had some other things going on. We will be getting back to it very soon. Found a shop that is building one. Pot o gold Customs. Check out his viking...
Looking good so far. What rear axle ratio? If its too low you might not get good highway speeds with out excessive RPM. What did you decide to build? Car hauler?
In my layman's opinion, I too also like the rear bumper and receiver. The truck has really good styling and I like that the fenders open partially with the doors. Nice progress.
Not sure yet. Everyone does diesel so we are leaning away from that. Might go old school blower, twin turbo ls, or something different. We don't have a lot of room so that will be a determining factors too.
I have a 1950 Chevy COE I'm building. I don't care for putting big trucks on small donor chassis and small wheels and tires. My original tires were 38" in diameter. I'm keeping that up front and the rears are semi super singles, 40" in diameter. You do you, but I think these trucks look out of proportion with much less than they were originally intended. In any case, you are getting there. I have a build album of my truck happy to share with you. Maybe give you some ideas.
@martyscncgarage5275 thanks Marty. We would love to see it for sure. The width is definitely different than what most do and I'm with you on that. We like the different. May have to customize the fenders but that may make it better.
Hello Dan & Ashley! My name is Craig. I am also maintaining/restoring a 1951 Ford F1 pickup truck. I am thankful that you have documented and shared your efforts on "Pure Junk". In this video you mention about getting a factory radio with all the latest goodies. Did you get one, if so from where? Can you post information about it? Did you record the installation? My truck (I have not named it yet), has what I think is an original radio, but it does not work. Also it looks like your glove box is missing, mine is missing as well. Did you replace it? I believe the originals were cardboard and there seem to be replacement available on the internet. Any video on that? Thanks!
Hi Craig!, thank you so much for following us and supporting. We are glad you are liking our build. We have not got a radio yet but we are looking at company that does new updated radios that look like the original. I'll get the name of the company we are looking at. The glove box we do have it just wasn't installed. I believe the one we have is plastic remanufactured one. We don't have to many interior videos yet but once we do the first fire up we will start on the interior so if you stay tuned those will be coming.
I came across your video while looking for hot rod truck builds. Nice truck project. Your bed modification looks great for a first time attempt. We all learn as we go. Good luck on your build.
I vote for the gooseneck hauler. That's what I went with and the 4 link rear suspension + air bag setup means I'll have no problems keeping it level too.
My project is still in the building phase. Currently adding 4-link setup with air bags front and back. My engine was relocated behind the cab for more room.@@kellercustomsgarage8289
My vote is for a car hauler, unless you already have a gooseneck trailer...I am building a 1950 Chevy COE with flat deck that will hydraulically tilt. Has 48 of rear overhang so the ramps will be short. Build what suits you guys! Looking forward to following your project!
Very nice patina work. I'm curious where you got the fuel cell and it's capacity. If you have a part number that would be great. I am doing the same setup on my 51 Pickup. Thanks and keep up the good work.
@kellercustomsgarage8289 we had to do the passenger side latch and driver side window regulator. Replaced all the glass and rubber. All new interior hardware
Can I buy your old outside O/S door handle please - mine has just snapped - I'm in UK and can't find a regalement over here. I prefer used as my panel van is dripping in Patina - rust ! Thank you.
