I think I recall seeing once that this ceremony takes place three days following proclamation of a new parliament in England, as in old days it took a Royal messenger roughly three days to travel by horse to Edinburgh.

If you compare this and the latest dissolution proclamation, you'll notice something different: The proclamation in 2015 was done under the now-scrapped Fixed-Term Parliaments Act 2011, as compared to the Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Act 2022, which restored the royal prerogative of dissolution as it was before. This is why the proclamation during the 2015 election was shorter than the usual, because the Monarch (at the request of the sitting Prime Minister) was stripped of this prerogative power for a good eleven years. Since the Crown lost that power at the time, the only proclamation it can make was to call on a new 5-year Parliament, which under the former FTPA, must be held on the first Thursday of May every five years.
