Each year over 200 of the nation's best musicians come together in musical collaborate to connect with the local community.
Great, Simple Production that works beautifully! I just saw the 2018/19 proructiom of "Ariadne auf Naxos" from the MET with LiSE DAVIDSEN as The Prima Donna/ Ariadne and BRANDON JONOVITCJH as the Tenor/ Bacchus and I must say I was NOT thrilled. The staging is incredible but ARIADNE just stands around for long periods singing but no good movement or body language to show her didtress - this was an opera NOT a concert and then Brandon, offsatge sang a few moments of Bacchus and he seemes a bit amplified. When he got to the stage, his tenor as Bachus is totally underwhelming and he is unable sing out in the grand fashion designed by Strauss and really makes a mess of some top notes that I always crave hearing as in this production with the great black Bacchus. He's fabulous.... as stebtorian as Strauss wanted him and it thrilled me. As I said, the MET prduction (sets) was truly great but the direction of the production lacked most for the two principal stars.,,,,,, Not that this is a criticism but LISE DAVDSEN is so very, very tall for a soprano that it almost looks unnatura;. She looks like an Amazon. Brandon was hust slightly shorter than her; what's going to happen whan she's paired with a much shorter tenor whose only 5'7' or so. She either won't sing or they have to find someone her size. That's what they did with BRANSON but vocally he really disappointed.
Jimmy Lopez is a genius. He writes music that inspires and encourages us to listen to every note with our ears and our hearts. I am moved to be a part of something more than a listener. I am a part of a community that has been moved to join a force that is more than the collective us that heard his work at the same time. It’s what my grandmother called, “going to church”. We all risen up together.
What beauty! Music is the universal language. This Festival has grown each year. I'm happy the Star and Tribune was here to interview people and will write a piece for the Variety section of the Minneapolis newspaper. I'm proud of you, Scott and Ward for what you have accomplished!
The future of opera lies anywhere but the United States where everything is money, corruption , delinquency, drug traffic, murder, assasination, persecution of minorities, political leaders who are merely clowns, such as the idiot Donald Trump and a generalized horrible opinion against Third World Countries, Palestinians, Africans and the rest of the planet. The universities in the United States are places where prejudices, hatred and stupidity are generated and spread all over the universe. This opera production is magnificent, mainly because it is not done in lucre centers, such as the Met in NY, The San Francisco Opera or any big city where multimillions are pais to conductors, singers and interpretes.
The FIRST concert I ever played was with Grant Wilcox in Tornstrom auditorium. We played Telemanns Don Quixote suite. I don't know why it's taken so long for me to discover the LAMF... but it's going to be the thing that gets me back to visit Brainerd.
Extraordinaire,. Je me sens si privilégié, moi sans moyen et pouvant accéder a tant de richesse ,de qualité, de force et profondeur... .. Merci, merci pour ce cadeau précieux!
This should become a standard repertoire piece! As someone who already knows all the instruments of the orchestra (and as a living composer, I might add), I almost died laughing multiple times! Funny and brilliantly done! Bravo!!
I went to the first Lakes Area Music Festival concert at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 15 years ago. What a growth from that 4 or 5 member concert to a full orchestra 15 years later. Scott and Taylor have accomplished a great feat of bringing classical music to our lakes area!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@LakesAreaMusicFestival fair enough I still cant help wondering..with this distance in between and still warring masks.? How can some one breath normal trough these masks while playing without getting headache, skinrash and throathsourness?.and with glasses its even harder to even read the. music notation .and your pulse goes way up above 100..try it for yourself put on a mask and put a saturation device on your middlefinger..and the put the mask off see what it does....its unnatural.. my experience wearing a mask while playing or working is negative..thats why om so anti . Why no let everyone choose for themselfes weather wearing one or not there is enough space and then everyone is happy respect eachother for individual choices. Music should bind together not devide
@@jacobapelgrim6975 This was recorded in 2020 when we were one of the first organizations to shift to online content and provide work for classical musicians. At that time there were many restrictions in place both from the government and the classical music industry. Not a single musician complained, and were thankful for the opportunity to play together after several months of not being able to. Enjoy the music!
🎶Thank You for posting this piece. I'm new to this composer & love the harpsichord. Long Live Chamber/Classical music! 🎼 PS Is the musician's name "Elliot" ? It was spelled differently here.
@@user-pc8vn6ym7rplaying it feels like youre in another dimension and even though i literally just started learning it since i got the green light for it to be one of my jury pieces this semester so i actually decided to genuinely play it for once and i feel so much better today
Antonín Dvořák: Symphony No. 9 in E minor, "From the New World", Op. 95, B. 178 01:30 Adagio 13:55 Largo 27:20 Scherzo: Molto vivace 34:49 Allegro con fuoco Why people applaud between the 4 pieces and not only at the end surprises me... the orchestra members lose their concentration in this way....
