Nice set up and clear demonstration on the system. If you activate the pump through the well pump pressure switch or a flow switch obviously the pump will run when there is water flow. However, you've mention using a timer to activate the air pump "several" times a day. How do you determine how many times a day the pump needs to run? Is it 5 times a day? 55 times a day? Can you clarify this point. - Thanks
@CleanWaterStore
@CleanWaterStore Месяц назад
Hello - this is a good question. It really depends on the application. For a residence, you might have it set to turn on early in the morning before the family gets up, and then run before lunch, before dinner and before bed. The frequency would be an educated guess and might need to be adjusted periodically. Or you could have it turn every few hours for 10 minutes etc. depending on how strong the sulfur odor is (if being used to reduce hydrogen sulfide odors). We do recommend the flow switch or wire directly to the well pump, however using a timer makes it a lot easier to install.

@@CleanWaterStore Thank you for your answer. It's basically a "refinement" process based on quality of water produced. I asked this question since I have my system driven by a Thomas .5gpm flow switch which is failing and requires 6 or 7 faucets to activate even when by-passing backwash and softener tanks. Hence, I wanted to experiment with the timer option.

Hi! Had a question is you don't mind answering. Bought a home test kit from Amazon to test well water for bacteria on a second property. It came with 4 tests so just for giggles tested the reverse osmosis water in the house with city water. Of course, at the 72 hour mark it tested negative, but set the test tube aside for a moment and forgot about it. 10 months later, and the water in the sealed plastic tube is now blue and has a film around the tube which when shaken turned stringy. Any suggestions as to what that might mean? Thanks!!
@CleanWaterStore
@CleanWaterStore Месяц назад
Hello ! After the 72 hours, the test is no longer valid. So any color or bacteria that might develop, or stringy looking particles, would not mean anything. It is probably some type of bacteria, but nothing related to the original sample. : )

I thought you should wrap the opposing direction per most plumbing instructions.
@CleanWaterStore
@CleanWaterStore 2 месяца назад
Thanks for commenting, I guess it can be either way as long as it does not bind up? Normally we wrap it clockwise. Here is more info: When wrapping Teflon tape (also known as PTFE tape) on a pipe thread nipple, you should wrap it in the same direction as the threads will turn when you screw the nipple into the plastic filter housing. This means: Wrap the tape in a clockwise direction when looking at the pipe end that will be threaded into the housing. Steps to Wrap Teflon Tape: Start at the End: Begin wrapping the tape at the end of the pipe thread (the edge of the nipple). Clockwise Direction: Hold the pipe nipple in your left hand (if you’re right-handed) and wrap the tape around the threads in a clockwise direction, which is the direction the nipple will turn when you screw it into the filter housing. Overlap Slightly: Overlap each layer of tape slightly as you wrap it around the threads. Typically, 2-3 wraps around the threads is sufficient. Tighten the Tape: Ensure the tape is snugly pressed against the threads and not loose. Smooth it Down: After wrapping, use your fingers to smooth down the tape along the threads, ensuring it’s well-adhered and will provide a good seal. Wrapping the tape in the correct direction ensures that it doesn’t unravel or bunch up when you screw the pipe nipple into the filter housing, providing a proper seal and preventing leaks.

Had this pump in my setup in the basement. The Kachunk sound it makes was nearly impossible to sound proof and could be heard in my house when the water was turned on. Its quite a thump like bass it puts out, like a drum being hit. Super Annoying. It gave out on me 2 months after the warranty period and given the price of it I am going a different route now for my soda ash injection.
@CleanWaterStore
@CleanWaterStore 2 месяца назад
Sorry that happened with your pump, they are usually good for 5 to 7 years so that is not typical. We do have a 5 year pro-rated warranty on these and if its only 14 months old you can get a replacement pump for free.. We have sold thousands of these pumps and the sound issue has come up before, especially when its installed in a home and that can be really annoying. All these types of solenoid diaphragm pumps make a thunking sound when operating. It is much worse when its installed on a shelf or wall. We have customers deaden the sound by installing them in a small plastic or stryrofoam cooler with some cheap sound panels around the pump inside the cooler. If you would like help with that please reach out to our support team at support@cleanwaterstore.com.

@@CleanWaterStore , thank you and I appreciate the reply. Overall the solution you guys gave me in my overall system worked great. I did consider contacting cleanwaterstore to see what we could do, but honestly I couldnt get around the noise of this pump and it wasn't about the money anymore. I had tried so much to deaden it, but its hits a really tough sound frequency to cover up. I had it in an insulated foam box , and then in a material sound deadened box within that. My sound deadening honestly is probably what killed it, I imagine it wasn't breathing like it should. It sits under my basement steps central in my house with my water system. As an alternative I was able to home brew an arduino solution into the flow meter that was paired with this pump and I did get it to tell me every gallon that is flowing and then I run a relay with a timer for solution control off that signal to a more traditional cheap injection pump that I am able to deaden the sound on effectively. I also now have led lights and a digital display readout that tells me my solution level and alerts me when I need to refill the soda ash. Soda Ash solution level was another problem I encountered with my injection system that I was not knowing when it was running low and running the risk of running the pump dry and the ph dropping in my home. I have landed in the same place with some upgrades I was able to brew, and now my replacement pump is more affordable and quiet. I did think this pump was good, and in hindsight I literally would have poured it its own concrete box as my home was being built to isolate its sound. Its a thumper! 😆

Is the ozone generator always running in order to keep ozone topped off in the air pocket? Or is it only running during the regen cycle?

What is the reason for not taking the time to assemble it before shipping ?
@CleanWaterStore
@CleanWaterStore 2 месяца назад
Thanks for asking, its not about the time. If the filter media is added the tanks are heavy and cannot be shipped by UPS or FEDX ground without being damaged. We can and do prebuild them though on request, and ship them by truck on a pallet with lift gate. Since some of our customers install these in their basements or well house, it's much easier to carry the light tank, pour the media in, and screw on the control valve than having to have two persons or a hand truck or dolly to move it around. However, please reach out to our support guys at support@cleanwaterstore.com and they can help if need the media added in advance, but its usually a disadvantage for most customers.

What benefit is backwashing if the water is the same as being filtered?
@CleanWaterStore
@CleanWaterStore 7 месяцев назад
Hello - the main advantages of having a backwashing carbon filter is the reversal of the flow of water through the carbon. By reversing the flow the carbon media expands in the tank so the carbon media becomes fluid. This cleans out any sediment that may have accumulated on top of the carbon media. It also "reclassifies" the media which prevents channeling, as is common with non-backwashing upflow type carbon filters. It doesn't make any difference if the water is treated or filtered first for this basic type of backwashing and rinsing. On the other hand, if the water is very fouled or full of rust or other contaminants, a 'clean water backwash' can be set up, but its no advantage for city water or other applications where one is mainly after chlorine or chloramine removal. Great question, thanks! If we can be of any help please email our support guys at support@cleanwaterstore.com

Hello - it sounds like the injector needs cleaning. Even though its a new unit it might have had some foreign material enter the injector somehow. The control valve is locked at first. Unlock the control valve by pressing the up and down arrows keys simultaneously and hold for approximately 3 seconds until you hear a beep. Press the second button Back/Regen. button this will go into regeneration mode. Press the button again to advance to brine draw. You should feel a vacuum draw on the brine line. Advance two more times into brine refill. Water will shoot out of the brine line. If the system does not draw a vacuum during the brine draw cycle you will need to clean the injector. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4sq0Zig_UFM.html Please email our support guys at support@cleanwaterstore.com and if you need a new injector or need any help with that, we can help.

After chlorination injection for iron oxidation what determines if you need a regular carbon filter to remove oxidized iron or a pro ox filter and then a carbon filter?
@CleanWaterStore
@CleanWaterStore 9 месяцев назад
Hello - generally its better to use an iron filter such as Pro-OX. If you use carbon alone, then the system is depending on the right amount of chlorine to be injected all the time. If anything happens to the chlorine residual or there isn't sufficient contact time to oxidize it, then the carbon won't work. The Pro--OX type media will continue to remove the iron and manganese although it is helped by injection of chlorine. If there is a small contact tank the chlorine can be adjusted so there is little or no chlorine residual after the Pro-OX so often a carbon filter is not needed, however if you have very high iron and sulfur odors having the carbon filter after the pro-ox works really well too. If you have questions about our support team can help too support@cleanwaterstore.com

Hello - it depends on what settings you would use, which varies based on how much chlorine you need to inject. Most folks use about 8 oz of pellets a month, if its set on one of the lower settings. For example say the water has a moderate high sulfur odor and 1 to 2 ppm of iron. You might use 5 to 6 lbs of years but it varies. www.cleanwaterstore.com/chlorine-pellets-granules/better-water-industries-sentry-chlorine-pellets-11-lbs-5-22-lb-bags.html Definitely using liquid bleach is lower cost than the pellets as they have gone up in price a lot over last 5 years... It is correct that they should generally be installed in a horizontal position. Mazzei says ". Mazzei® Injectors should be installed with the flow arrow in a horizontal or upward position. If installed in a vertically down position, there must be at least 5 to 10 psig of outlet pressure." Because this installation uses a booster pump we do have the pressure to create a vacuum so it works fine.
