I spent approx 8 years of my life in this shit-hole & from what i seen it hasnt went any forward,in fact its went backwards And the skrews are uneducated.I was on meds so i went to the High dependency in D-Halls North Upper!!!.After being out for 23 years i had a 5 week remand and its still the same. a Status quo and Glasgow jails are the worst to serve time in period...Now they are building a Glasgow jail (lol)Enough said!!!

An extradition request was turned down by an Irish Court recently due to the state of Barlinnie on ECHR grounds. That is the fault of the Prison. not the Irish court.
The medical exam consisted of asking if you where crazy. And a 100 whatt car inspection lamp shone near your genitalia to check for pubic lice. 😱🪳 And no experienced officer would put a convict between themselves & the only door of a cell. Many don't realize that you don't get sent to prison to be punished. Prison is the punishment. As well as public protection.

did the prison offficer actually say at 6:58 they have drop outs from society..alcoholics, EPILEPTICS, sex offenders??? wow what a thing to say. i don't think you would get away with that today and he wouldn't be in a job. Epilepsy is an illness not a criminal offence.
That’s a good comment and I think a great many prisons throughout the UK went backwards in many ways. There is no sign of any overcrowding in this documentary and they even show men with single cells, I believe that 10-15 years later those same cells would house 2 or even 3 men and work would be a privilege rather than a normal thing. Of course these kinds of documentaries show the prison in the best possible light and the prisoners interviewed would have been carefully selected by the staff.
Most of it still looks the exact 💯 same .in the year 2023 .food isn't much different either tbh 🤣.the prison has been condemned for years and it's still going strong to thos day .
