My name is Lady Le Fae, and I've started this channel (New England Huntress) to share with you my wilderness adventures, building a log home in rural Maine, and hunting and fishing adventures and tips! I hope that you might watch one of these videos and say "I could do that too," if a lifestyle connected to nature is something that appeals to you.
We are on our 3rd season of using the tents! I’m planning to make another, updated video to go over how they’ve held up, and how we do basic things like electricity, showering, washing dishes, cooking, heating, etc.
Occasionally the algorithm drops a keeper, this was one of them! The forests of Michigan have a definite feeling about them, as if something is always watching, back in the shadow just out of sight. Not necessarily an evil feeling, but a feeling of presence all the same.
Thank you so much! I really enjoy making these videos and I’m learning more every time. I definitely agree with you on that! I think most wild places have that feeling, but there was something unique about Michigan.
Fortunately, I dress for myself, not to appease random men ;) Vibeke is a Norwegian elkhound. They are fantastic wilderness dogs! You should look them up.
Thank you so much! It’s been a long journey of learning how to edit audio! Still a long ways to go. The past couple of years I’ve been balancing running my own company with being in school, and now that I’m finished, I finally have time to share these adventures with you all
Such a cool area and trail there! It is the site of an abandoned lumber town at the beach parking lot so I can imagine a few spirits hanging around maybe which might explain the spooky vibe. You have a great travel buddy/security system there! A month later when Otter creek would be full of salmon and she would have had a blast chasing!😅 I see the Log Slide coming up soon, another awesome area! Thanks for sharing
@@newenglandhuntress There is a big history photo sign by the outhouse at the beach parking lot. I forget the town name but there is an old photo of it and the sign says the apple trees there are all that remains of it. A few years ago there was a sign on the path to the beach that said "Skinny Dipping Prohibited". Must have been a problem I guess😅
Great video. I'm from CA and never been to the Northeast but I plan to drive to Maine this fall for some bird hunting. Last fall I drove to Alaska and got Willow Ptarmigan, Spruce Grouse, Sharptail Grouse and returned home via Eastern Montana where I got Sage Grouse and Hungarian Partridge. Saw a Ruffed Grouse in Alaska but it gave me the slip before I could pull the trigger. Hopefully I can get both color phases in Maine.
Alaska sounds amazing! Someday I’ll go Ptarmigan hunting up there! I’m sure you’ll be able to get both color phases in Maine. Hope you enjoy your adventure out here!
Great road trip and thats my favorite beach you are on in the preview! Glenn Arbor and the Sleeping Bear dunes are awesome too. So much to see here in Michigan especially when you head north!
It’s one of my favorite states and I can’t wait to head back! It’s also very dog, friendly compared to a lot of other places, which made travel much easier. Lots of restaurants allowed me to bring my dog and sit on the patio, most of the beaches were dog friendly, etc
That’s a great question! We can never know for sure that we are 100% safe; that’s just the nature of the world. But personally, I feel very safe with my dog (alarm system and I know she’d throw down for me) and in places where it’s legal to carry a firearm. We don’t have grizzly bears in Maine or any other aggressive wildlife, so the danger would be creepy men. Creepy men are creatures of opportunity typically, and simply having a dog with you will make most of them change their mind, especially if you open carry (you’re not easy prey) I’m often hesitant to talk about this on RU-vid out of fear that some creep out there takes it as a challenge, but I also think it’s important to talk about it. I’ve been attacked by men before, but it’s always been in the city. Places where I wasn’t allowed to defend myself, and by people whom were supposed to be trustworthy. I’m very slow to build trust these days, especially with men. Unfortunately, women just have to be so careful. Hopefully I’ll never find myself in a situation like that again. I feel safer in the wilderness versus cities. The reality is that if I waited to have some male chaperone to join me on all of my adventures, I just wouldn’t get to go anywhere. As you can see in the video, my dad is often up there with me, and occasionally I get to go travel with friends, but for logistical reasons, I often find it easiest just to travel me and my dog
tent is nice, HATE DOG CRATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hate them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vibeke actually loves her crate. If I’m in the tent, she’s either napping in the crate or in the bed with me. I only close the door to it if she’s just been in the lake and is trying to sleep on my bed (can’t have wet bedding; there’s no dryer up there lol)
She’s the best adventure buddy I could’ve ever asked for! I really appreciate the breeder paying attention when I told her about my lifestyle and the kind of fluffy companion I was searching for
Like the video. Your own slice of heaven. Your dog. Norwegian Elkhound? I had one as a child. I haven’t seen the breed in along time. Beautiful animal.
thank you! In a couple weeks I'll have our build recap video which includes the excavation and pouring the foundation! we're getting our logs delivered in early June and it's time to start stacking!
It was one of the most incredible things I have ever seen! I’ve often found meteor showers and other celestial events to be a little underwhelming, but this was truly incredible
@@newenglandhuntress thank you. Mine passed at age 14 of bladder cancer. She was my girl. I saw her everywhere after she died. I miss her still. I was 8 when she went and 41 now
there's a camp in BC forest with these types of canvas tents on platform all set apart and facing a lake, with a log cabin as a dining room. very posh so beautiful.
She’s a Norwegian elkhound, and similar to huskies they like to wander. I’ve done a lot of training with her, and she has pretty excellent recall, But if one of the other camp owners is walking their dog down the logging road sometimes she’ll take off, and I don’t want there to be any fights because not all of my neighbors have friendly dogs. For her safety, I typically keep her on a leash unless I know there’s no one else around.
I just want Soul Family not relationship.... would be weird if ya was married....😂🤪🫶 I've been Firefighter paramedic, engineering and living naturally the way God made us to Live in this meeting place we call 🌎 to experience Love so when our spirit leaves to next place we are meeting up then united from this realm .... Just found your channel. Used to vacation up in rangley, Maine in the winter and I loved it. Complete miss it. What part of Maine are you filming ? (Not creeping, just general area)
Welcome to the channel! Western Maine is beautiful :-) at the moment, I’m not comfortable listing the exact area in case of stalkers. 99% of people are totally great, but it’s that one percent that I worry about. This may change in the future, but at the moment I’m not comfortable giving the exact area.
When I find a product I like, I do like to tell people about it, although I am not sponsored by the company that makes the tent, There are a lot of people out there, who are wanting to live a more off grid lifestyle and not really sure where to begin. Please feel free to check out some of my other vlog style videos if this one isn’t your cup of tea, and in the meantime, thank you very much for leaving a comment :-)
I’m not sure what you mean by “last?” Canvas is naturally waterproof. I’ve had these tents 2 yrs now - no mold, no holes, no leaks. Unless a tree falls on it and punctures it, or you leave it vacant during a snow storm and the weight of the snow causes it to collapse and tear, the tents will last
These are good points. I had a wife once who liked to deer hunt, but she's since gone. I miss hunting with somebody. It'd be a dream come true to find somebody that liked being outside, hunting and fishing. Even in Maine....that's about impossible. Deer and birds are my idea of being a vegetarian. They eat plants and I eat them.
Over on the Kanc! That's a wild ride in the winter! New Hampshire...well....mid to upper is a beautiful state. Just like here...get up in to real Maine and it's a different world.
I think it rained every day in June. We could get burn permits all summer long, I've never seen anything like it. I tried to send you email, but it seems that the captcha thing is screwed up.
I just found your channel. Good video! I'm a Mainer. Partridge hunting is my favorite. Sometimes I heater hunt, sometimes I wander. Last week I wandered about 3 miles on a dirt road.
Oh yeah.... I'm in hopes to get out more this week and see if I can "drum" up anything. I'm not sure if I'll head back to the same area or give another place a shot. Ditch chickens are the best tasting thing out there. I recorded some partridge wandering for my Rumble channel. @@newenglandhuntress
