I have my drop shut compression lock Spydercos on washers. My Arius, Jcape, Kunwu, Strix, Voodoo, Relative, QC, and others I have on bearings. I love the hydraulic drop shut of bearings.
THANK YOU for taking the time to make this video. I just ordered my Frontrunner roof rack and the printed directions are not very clear. Your video was really helpful.
The paid hunt guys are the same ones who have Tridents on their knives despite never being a part of the Teams or serving for that matter. Still like the blades just not the community.
I'm really interested in following your G build. I bought a G500 almost a year ago expressly for overlanding. Will also be getting the JWO 2" kit. I have removed the back seats, made a pull out drawer system/sleeping platform so I can sleep inside. One 600 mile trip so far. Making my own T case protection plate and slider/steps next. They are magic on the dirt.
Awesome! I will have to do an update in the near future- just moved across country so other things have gotten in the way. Thanks for the comment! The 2.0 lift on 33s is perfect but be advised, order the locker / brake extension lines and the castor correction kit. I didn’t know I needed it and it delayed my build. I’ll do an update in the near future! Thanks again 🙏
If one wants a sexy(ier) knife than the bloodshark for $3,000!!, then spend around $800 and get a Bud Nealy Custom, used Persian. But if you need to be a silly seal fanboy, do what you gotta do.
You should put that benchmade slim up against a coldsteel code 4. Coldsteel made this slim before benchmade did and it’s a fraction of the cost of that benchmade and has a tri-ad lock. People go out spend over 500 on a benchmade slim and coldsteel designed and already done this with the code 4 series.
The last argument makes zero sense. You're comparing a spring assisted knife with non-assisted knife to argue that bearings are better than washers? My 940 runs washers and I can drop shot it with 3 fingers not even a full hand. It is harder to make a washer based pivot that can be that smooth for a decade of use and have no blade play. The main argument against bearings is that they get stuck in when dirt gets in there and than dries. This also kills your AK argument.
Your observations should really be called criticisms. The whole feel of this video makes it seem like you've got a bone to pick with Tactile. I'm not saying that I disagree with your "observations," but it really comes off as a hit piece. And your friend who thinks it looks like a Koenig Arius is out of his damn mind, it looks NOTHING like an Arius. I don't understand how he even made that connection. As far as the price goes, I think it's a reasonable price for what you're getting. I paid more for my large Curtiss F3, which has disgustingly uneven grinds, but I don't see anyone bitching about its price tag. You're going to end up paying roughly the same price for just about any Hinderer if you decide to swap the G10 scale for a titanium scale. The Chris Reeve large Sebenza with micarta inlays costs $650. Hell, my mini Koenig Arius "Corda" with blue accents was $800. It's weird how the knife community will take a shit on the Archer because of its cost, but won't blink twice at spending the same amount or more on similar knives. But I guess the cool thing to do as a knife reviewers these days is to complain about the Archer's price.
Bubbles, people can spend their money on whatever they want! At the end of the day, it’s personal preference. I have no bone to pick with Tactile nor do I make knife reviews for a living.. I’m critical of all knives and take into account the price while doing these overviews.. call them criticisms if it makes you feel better as it is of no consequence to me. Of course there is going to be personal bias- I’m human 😂 If you love the Archer and it’s worth the money to you, more power to you! Enjoy it!
@@the_pointy_end it’s Bubbicus, not bubbles. I’ll chalk that up to autocorrect. I don’t have an Archer, I don’t even own a single Tactile knife. At one point I had a flipper Rockwall, but I didn’t care for it so I gave it to a friend. I guess it doesn’t really make much sense for me to comment like I did, seeing as how I don’t have a dog in the fight. I suppose I just question one’s motives when all they do is take a shit on something. But, I guess it doesn’t matter in the end because ultimately, I have no control over what you or anyone else says, which really makes me wonder why I even commented to begin with. What, exactly, did I think would happen? That you’d magically change your tune? And just who am I to criticize your video? Why do I hold my own opinions in such high regard? For whatever reason, I’m reminded of an excellent quote by Marcus Aurelius, “we have the power to hold no opinion about a thing and to not let it upset our state of mind-for things have no natural power to shape our judgments.” In other words, we don’t have to have an opinion on everything. Anyway, thanks for your response. Keep doing what you’re doing.
1 in four pigs raised in the US is owned by China. Our water, our grain etc feeds there pigs, there meat is processed here and we process the pig leftover parts for commercial food. Which....some is sent to China. So our resources are being dedicated to feed there people. This and foreign countries buying our land and water. Americans are voting with there wallets but most of what we own china's ljkel6 got a part in.
People often don't take into account the fact that shock loading is a completely different nature than constant pressure. Locks need to be checked by pressing on the spine, this would make the tests more correct. In addition, knife manufacturers often SPECIFICALLY provide for the possibility of disengaging the lock under SHOCK loads. This is done to avoid permanent damage to the lock. Knife owners usually are not even aware of this option. Shock loads on the spine do not occur during normal use of the knife. If the blow was so strong that the knife folded, this means that the blow was delivered INTENTIONALLY. And don't even mention the batoning. A batoning and a folding knife are incompatible things. I will say more, a batoning, in principle, is not the TARGET use of a knife.
Awesome video! Have two of the XL and have both for about 10 years now. Changed the ball cage lock to Flytanium cage lock. They are great all around knives including self defense like another person mentioned. Thanks for sharing!
Since this, they revised the knife lock, and lock interface. I've tested mine, bashed it hard on the spine, no failure. Its a shame Microtech didn't inform their customers about the revision. They should have owned up to it. I bet if you sent it into warranty they would have changed the lock, you hope they would anyway. 2024 modles dont have lock failure issues.
Got mine for what ita worth 380 love it everything a bugout should be although yes absolutely the crks are far superior un every way except manipulation
This is a *terrific* review. I really love the look of the Archer, but that's an expensive knife purchase for me, so I've been on the fence since it came out. So, I *really* appreciate you taking a very critical, but fair and thoughtful, approach to this. The details you point out were things I missed myself, and none of the other reviewers I've seen have mentioned. But, they're details that would have driven me crazy. So, you saved me from making a significant investment I would have regretted. I appreciate other reviewer's optimism and enthusiasm, but having objective, well-considered criticism is really important. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.
Good review, thanks! My copy doesn't have those mismatched grind lines. However, it does have gritty action, lock-stick, unfinished edges, and it came with a mostly dull blade. To me, it does not feel like a $600 knife. I'm not impressed and I will be sending mine back.
It was very refreshing to see this video verbalize what I was somehow feeling! PS: (To reach that state of mind, it would be logical to buy various expensive high-end knives, but in my case, I don't have any high-end knives, so I am just jealous, lol)
🤣 thanks for all the engagement over the past 20 mins / commenting on my videos 😘 Dude try an online dating app- will give you someone or something** (most likely) to do on a Saturday night ❤️❤️
