Respectfully... When the elderly gentleman in his wheelchair brought it for consignment is that what we should have told him ? Should we have shamed him ? This RV may not be for you sir, but for somebody this will be the best motorhome they can afford and they will be proud to own it. "Judge not..."
Just so you know i own a 351 momentum 2021if mine starts to break everyone is going to know about because I will park it right in front of the main entrance and I know where that is , we toured the place !
I don’t think any dealers are taking grand design campers in on trade because of the frame defects coming out on line ! I own a grand design momentum 351 not paid for yet it’s a 2021 , l’m keeping it till she falls apart ! No more Rv ‘s for me !
Good luck selling that one ! Check out the videos on frame flex before you consider looking at this ! Frame flex is what they are calling it , some people call it frame failure!
This grossly overbuilt-weighs-more-than-brick-firehouse will be a certain candidate for multiple failures. Could only be pulled by a full-fledged semi tractor.
Love it but couldn't afford anything like this and if I could I would have it towed somewhere to a good spot on a beach or a lake or mountains and use it as a destination stay. Would not want to tow anything this big !
Thank you for the comment. I always appreciate the opportunity to address objections directly. I known that there has been a handful of claims on the internet that have recieved online attention and have turned folks into RV influencers over night...doom and gloom will alwalys get more attention than the thousands of positive experiences from customers across the country. As good as the internet is at creating online influence it's just as good at creating online disinformation. When you're on top for quite a while there's a lot of people gunning to bring you down. Grand Design is not using a different frame or metal than any other high end RV manufacturer -- Forest river, Keystone, etc.. If we as end users fail to properly weigh and distribute that weight evenly within the coach we're asking for trouble. It would definitely help if the industry would commit to a greater degree of educating their customer base on the subject of safe towing principles.
It’s a shame that you would place blame on the end users instead of the manufacturer. That speaks volumes. The failing of the metal frames designed by grand design and manufactured by Lippert is certainly not a user problem. It is a design and manufacturing issue . If that were not the case, there would be as much frame failure with other manufacturers as there is grand design. It’s not a matter of trying to knock somebody off their pedestal, grand design, and Winnebago have done a very good job of urinating all over themselves as it relates to the frame problems and their poor response and helping customers who are experiencing it.

Thank you for the comment. I've been really impressed with this particular floor plan as well. I really love how the rear door enters into the kid's space and creates a mud room -- A place where the kids can come in with their dirty clothes and dirty shoes from playing outside in the woods at the lake etc. That way we can keep the RV cleaner and the mess isolated
Depends on the power source -- a generator can provide more amperage. Standard 50amp plug in will power 2 AC units. Adding a soft starting system will allow all 3 to run simultaneously on a standard 50 amps plug in.
Thank you for commenting. I'm sorry to hear that your experience with purchasing a New RV was less than ideal. From my personal experience with multiple Jayco and Grand Design New RV retail customers, the dealer you choose has a lot to do with a positive warranty experience. A lot of folks are looking to save money by shopping around the country and often ending up with a faceless corporate store instead of their local family dealership that is invested in creating a positive experience for their customers. You might consider this if you decide to buy a new or used RV in the future -- "buy local".
2:29: The bottom of the shower door is broken. With all the horror stories about all these new RVs coming out with a laundry list of major problems, I would never buy a new RV. They just slap them together with the cheapest materials possible, then once the dealer gets your money, forget about continued service, you're SOL!
Also, the shower door is a vinyl rolling door. Similar to a roller shade, this is a very simple solution vs a heavy glass door. Not trying to argumentative, but there's nothing at the bottom to break.
Thank you for commenting! The SLX line sacrifices some storage and amenities to meet a lower price point. For a lot of folks looking to save money this is a good compromise over the full Jay Flight and Jay Feather line up from Jayco.
Are the wheel wells metal lined to protect the unit in the event of a tire blow out? My truck has the factory tow package and a tow rating of 9,340 lbs - Would this work for this unit?
Thank you for commenting! No galvanized metal wheel well liners on the Catalina -- but we can fabricate them for you. With an equalizer hitch, you would most likely be able to tow this camper with a 1/2 ton pickup. You can call me at 918 504 7727 and I'd be happy to check my tow calculator based on your specific vehicle specs. T
It has a foot of counter space at best. That extra space over the sink doesn't count. 😊. To be fair though, I watch a lot of camper reviews and it seems that bigger counters have just started getting popular here lately.
2024.... With GRAND DESIGN MOMENTUM's ALL over the Interwebs with their issues with " Frame Flex" ( Frame FAILURES ) WHO in their right mind would even consider making a purchase right now ????
Thank you for commenting! I've heard about this on the internet, have yet to see it in person, and we sell a lot of Momentum and Solitude fifth wheels. I encourage my customers to weigh their trailers and follow the manufacturers guidelines -- I've found that it's easy to overload your camper without noticing that you've exceeded the GVWR.
