Samantha Calder shares stained glass skills and tips to help stained glass hobbyists and glass fusers. If you're an avid glass hobbyist, a beginner to stained glass or even someone who is interested in making stained glass windows or suncatchers, make sure to subscribe for helpful training videos.
I'm an artist and instructor and have been teaching stained glass since 2008. During this time I've helped countless others grow their skills and confidence through my studio called Living Sun Glass, which expanded to include a teaching blog in 2017. I'm also the owner of MakeStainedGlass.com which is a membership club for hobbyists, and WhisperingRaven.com where I sell some of my art. If you have any questions or want to request a topic or tutorial just leave a comment on any of my videos, and I'll see what I can do to answer it.
I just found you on Facebook and I loved your video! I have just started with stained glass and this will be a perfect beginner project for me…..THANK YOU FOR SHARING ❤
Thank you for the paper tip! I am making a small repair around the vent cap of a lamp shade, and knowing this will make it easier. I saw another video where the vent cap was (in my opinion) installed upside down - the convex side towards the inside of the shade. The original orientation was convex side up. Which way is correct? Have I been wrong for years??
Awesome video, i wish i could add a pic here of a gingerbread man i made at the bottom where i joined the legs, to the bottom of his shirt it was straight line of solder straight across the top of legs & bottom of shirt the stress point just broke off, i dont know why, do you maybe lol😅
I was told never to wash copper patina off with water, you just dry it off with papertowel then buff with finishing compound Before you start patina rub with steel wool triple 0 it helps with the copper being shinier when polished 😊😊
Hi there! So neat. I actually found the exact same light fixture in an alleyway recently. Any idea how one would hang it/attach it to the ceiling? What is this iron ring? Thanks!
I just broke my glass lamp while playing the song 'Persistent Vision' by the Dischord Records band, Rites Of Spring. My guitar headstock collided with the glass, shattering instantly.
THANK YOU!!! so much! Never knew what the set screw was for. I got a new pair of pliers that "don't work as well" as my old ones...gonna check that screw now.
Thank you so much for explaining and performing the fix of broken foil. I am learning more and more every day. Today, I was trying to add a ring and must have heated the area too much because the foil gave way. Your video helped me so much. Again, thank you for your very informative teaching. Thanks for the video. Do you use the same temp as soldering or do you turn your iron up? Sometimes I’m not sure how to gauge wether the old foil on the good side is still strong enough to not be replaced.
when I put a ring I use paper trombonne and a magnet onther the stain glass project like this noting move also maybe it is a good pratice to add lkittle peace of reenforment at each angle
