I'm Jen with Caketastic Cakes and I make cake decorating tutorials that "ACTUALLY" teach! I work in my own kitchen with almost exclusively 12 common tools. I show you don’t need a bakery or expensive specialty tools to recreate my cakes. My channel offers HUNDREDS of FREE narrated cake tutorials that step you through the process from start to finish. I commonly use fondant (or sugar paste) to cover my cakes and use gum paste (or modeling paste) to create my cake decorations and cake toppers. New videos every week! Thanks for watching! You can also now join me on Game Jolt- a social site for fans of video gaming and more! Stop by and say "hi" using this link: gamejolt.com/invite/CaketasticCakes
Actually, I love that you showed the correct ratio (1 oz of beans to 8 oz of alcohol). This is in line with FDA requirements. Unfortunately it is not fully extracted in 6 weeks. If you shake daily for 6 months it should be ready (fully extracted). The difference between grade A and grade B beans is the amount of moisture content (plumper is prettier, drier gives you more beans per ounce so a little stronger flavor with grade B beans.
The cake pans were 6” and 8” and I sorry, I have no idea how many tiles I used. The square cutter I used was about half inch in size though. It was a lot. You figure, there’s about 50 on the top of the top layer alone. Sorry I can’t be more exact.
you can get the wilson gel food colors through my storefront link on amazon (if you go through my link, I get a commission and any bit helps me :) ) www.amazon.com/shop/caketasticcakes?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_aipsfshop_aipsfcaketasticcakes_YWDWZ2YJE3QEFMNZAYJ7
I made this and it was super cute, but the head, because it was so heavy, compressed the "cupcake" portion of the body. Any suggestions on how to avoid that?
Yes. You must allow the body to dry completely before you put the head on. Make them separately but make a pilot joke in the head for the lollipop stick to go into. Then let them dry a couple days. Then place the head on. That’s the problem with these preschool characters- they have huge melons! I hope this helps in the future 😁
Stick it in the fridge for 15- 20 min, take it out and stir. Repeat this as often as you need to get the thickness you need. Don’t give up- I’ve had this happen too and it’s a pain in the butt, but it can still work. I’m sorry it happened!
mama showed me to make a round pan and a square pan and then cut the round one in half then put each half circle onto side-by-side corners of the square and it makes a heart
I do. I do this out of my kitchen for other people who aren’t professionals and just want to make something nice for their loved ones. I try to use as basic and readily available tools and supplies as possible. And I must say, I’ve never had a problem. However maybe someone else here will benefit from your comment or want to up their game, so thank you for the comment 😁
Wth. I thought gum paste was some type of frosting. I'm almost furious at myself not knowing all these years making special cakes for my kids that there was another product for decorating. All of the frustration could've been avoided. How did I not hear about this product in all of the videos I've watched😮
