I'm a guy from Kitsap County with an interest in emergency services, but I don't have many firebuffing opportunities. So, city traffic cameras are the next best thing to "work from home."

Guess What! I saw a brand new fire truck today! Fire Department: Spokane Fire Department Unit: Engine 17 Unit Description: 2023 or 2024 Pierce Arrow XT Pumper
Yes I still monitor Spokane/Spokane Valley, though it's a bit more difficult since the archiving footage service hasn't been working for a few months, meaning I have to record all the footage live as it happens. I've had pretty bad luck with Spokane recently, but I'm sure I'll catch something eventually!
Buff 1, also known as Rehab 10 is a volunteer group that responds to provide snacks and water to firefighters at fire scenes. Not sure if the Seattle Fire Buff Society is still around as a group, but there are at least a couple members that still continue the service. One of them is a frequenter on the channel!
Typical Seattle self important people completely and constantly blocking emergency vehicles because they are just to important and self absorbed in themselves.
Great vids, I'm glad we got someone to show off mason county and other agencies. also a heads up I was at station 53 in July in a red van, gave a shoutout to you and a huge wave.
Great stuff - always fun to hit up the waterfront! Next time suggest Smith Tower to your family as well - awesome view and cheaper than the Space Needle. Plus, once you're there, Station 10 is just a few minutes away 😀
Thank you! We were considering Pioneer Square but weren't sure how safe the area is. How's it over in Pioneer Square these days? Our big concern was my younger elementary-aged siblings I'd love to visit Station 10 by myself in the future!
@@WATrafficCamResponses Honestly, I'm not sure how it is these days, since I haven't been out there in quite a while. Probably not the best place for elementary school kids, though - good call 😂
Yep, lots of buses can sometimes get in the way. Pretty often King County Metro will send a supervisor unit (Tahoe with amber lights) to direct bus traffic and make reroutes
Being in the middle of multiple stations is quite the site to behold. I called in a traffic accident once and got a similar response being equal distance between 2 stations. They all converged at the same time turning the road from a clogged up mess into a parade of sorts.
One of Seattle's solutions to the homeless crisis is tiny home villages, which are little one-room buildings built on pallets, they look pretty similar to shacks or sheds. They fit about 25 of them in a fenced parking lot. One of the tiny homes caught fire and since they're so close together a total of 17 tiny homes burned down This was on Elliott Avenue West, about 2 miles from downtown and about a mile from the Space Needle. There's some pictures in the KOMO news link at the bottom of the description

@@EndPoliceBrutailty i mean every major city is like this. and even then crime rates are better then the 70s and 80s but everyone's nostalgia goggles make them think "things were better back then"
Thanks for watching! 'B' stands for Battalion, which is a command unit. They're staffed by a firefighter at the rank of battalion chief, who as a pretty senior member isn't really fighting fires but more overseeing the operations of the ladder trucks, fire engines, etc. They respond to large incidents such as structure fires and extrications to command the scene. Each battalion chief is essentially the shift supervisor for 1/5 of the department (there are five battalion chiefs for each shift) 'M' stands for Medic, which is one of two types of ambulances in Seattle. 'A' stands for Aid, which is one type staffed by firefighters. They treat stable patients only and rarely transport, since SFD has a contract with AMR to transport stable patients. 'M' stands for Medic, which is staffed by paramedics. They're also firefighters, but when they're on the medic units, they only act as paramedics. They treat and transport the more seriously ill or injured patients. Hope this helped!
Nice work getting (almost?) all of the units going to this response! I like that you included the scanner traffic as well - I know it's a lot more work, but I think it adds a lot to the video.
@@flightstatic4662 Don't know what P25 is... do you mean that's as good as you get with a scanner, or do you mean that's normal audio quality for that type of radio?
@@athompso99 Yeah P25 a type of digital radio; tldr is that the audio sounds like this though is better for the users in the long run (allows the department to know the location of every radio, at all times, etc...) hope that made some sense
The music is from a German emergency services game called EMERGENCY I figured it was somewhat fitting, and I can get away with copyright claims easier, and I don't think it's that bad You're welcome to mute the music; I only use the music when I don't have any scanner audio The volume might be screwed up because my headphones are weird and are super loud at low PC volume

Amanda here with KREM 2 News in Spokane. Sent you an email! Can we get your permission to use this video? We will credit your youtube page on the video.
Hey! Thanks for reaching out. It's... complicated. The copyright owner of all the footage is WSDOT, which doesn't usually archive footage. The footage was archived by a third-party group unaffiliated with WSDOT, which is called SafetyVid ( safetyvid.com/ ) Though WSDOT owns the copyright, I have seen other news organizations use SafetyVid-archived footage without a problem. I believe SafetyVid requests credit for footage. I have no problem with my content being used, but just wanted to let you know there's a couple other parties involved! 😄
