Hi again Ed, it's Vak here, I wanted to ask you about a particular Friday Music pressing that I am thinking of buying next if I can find one at a reasonable price. First of all, Ever since I first corresponded with you about the Elvis pressings from Friday Music, I took your advice and bought one and it was amazing! So I started collecting them even though it ends up being so expensive with postage to Australia. I have been extremely impressed with the sound and the picture quality on the covers... until my latest purchase of A Date With Elvis, where the cover was SO blurry and the colours were REALLY off! When I place it next to my English RCA International pressing from (I think 1980), you can really see the difference in quality of the front cover. I know you did say that some of the covers ARE blurry and that the colours can be off, so I wanted to ask you specifically about the front cover picture quality of Elvis For LP Fans Only? Is the picture quality of this album OK? I am thinking of buying this one next if I can find it. Also, any difference between the red or gold viny pressing (apart from colour)haha? I'd really appreciate your feedback on this mate. Is Carl the cat, still staying with you? As always Ed, I respect your judgement. Hope to hear from you soon. All the best, Vak.
@haraldtrittner4396 I can remember my dad buying pong for me and my brother for Christmas when it first came out. We thought it was the coolest thing ever lol. ( Oh yes the great and awsome 70's lol 😂 )
I have a lp was Our Memories of Elvis has 3 stickers on the lp I never opened it. How can I send u a photo of it and wonder if you know anything about it. Love your videos keep it up Thanks
They, whoever they are never put some of my Elvis favorites on their "Very Best of Elvis" or "Elvis Greatest Hits". Few of my favorites are "Snowbird", "Early Morning Rain", "What Now My Love", "It's Your Baby, You Rock It", "Stranger In The Crowd", etc Just sayin
Hi Ed, thanks for showing those CDs, they are all very interesting. I should spend more time at the record fairs I go to; I look at all the vinyls, but run out of time and energy to check the CDs as well, so goodness knows what I might be missing. Although to be fair it is highly unlikely most of those would turn up at a record fair, indeed anywhere in Australia!
Nice additions! I’m glad you found the other “A Touch of Platinum.” The ECEG is actually a pretty good cd…bootleg or not. If I recall correctly, I don’t think that 5 track cd was any type promo, but more of an anomaly. I have it ..somewhere. I’ll have to dig it out and take a look.⚡️
You're absolutely right my friend🙂 The 5 Tracks BMG CD It Is NOT a Promo CD, it's a kind of Advertisment (plus a Barcode!)! A 1:1 CD but with additional special "CD Jukebox Strips" were available too👍
Some awesome CD's; Congratulations Ed (i have all of these in my Collection). "Easy Come, Easy Go" is one of the earliest Bootleg CD Releases (1990) A Bootleg Vinyl was also available in the 1980's. But nothing beats the original 1967 australian RCA STEREO Album, a real Beauty👌 @The 5Track "Don't Be Cruel" US BMG CD is NOT a Promo, sorry!😉 @@ a 1:1 Edition exists with additional "CD Jukebox Strips"
I got the Platinum Set Original. Which is really nice, Some good CDs there Ed. I just got loads of vinyl on 16th loved to send up pick of them. I'm after original Christmas gatefold to celebrate my 60th I've got it but not the Red gatefold version. A few on eBay. Funny one saying it's 1957 but the inset shows ELVIS Albums including King Creole and ELVIS is back 😂. The vinyl might be 1957 thou. I love the ELVIS Sleeves with the records.
It's really sad how the "powers that be" have handled the last few Elvis releases. Elvis Memphis feels like a "Just get it out there and be done with it" release. The 50th anniversary releases started off great, giving us an opportunity to re-examine the 1970's material in a year-by-year way that satisfied the hard-core Elvis collector and vinyl lover. Having them all mixed by the same person helped to focus on the music with a sense of continuity. Then with Aloha, they have Ross-Sprang mix both nights for the CD, but decide to use an older Vic Anesini mix for the vinyl. Why? And now, instead of getting a great 2 disc vinyl set of Stax recordings for their 50th, we get this Frankenstein type release that doesn't please anyone. Is this vinyl release going to attract any new fans? Why have the Sun material on it? It just doesn't make any sense.
I also purchased this box and I am overthrilled. Beforehand I tried to collect al CDs one at a time, but I gave in and bought this. Amazing sound. All Vic Ansini remastering. And the quality of the sleeves are really nice and give you a sense of the original lps. Thank you for the review, Esben, DK 😊
