Really helpful video! Thank you! How would you recommend maintaining ambient heat in these or the black hdx totes for nighttime heating? I purchased the black hdx tote for my bp and am struggling with figuring out how to maintain ambient heat in the winter time.
Hi, I was just wondering how you set up your heating for these enclosures? I’ve made two with plans to make more in the future and I had use the zoomed heat mats but didn’t know if that was the best method for heating
That's not a demon fly. Its a beautiful, harmless, rarely seen periodic cicada. I have only experienced one emergence when I was a kid, and remember playing with these creatures. Alas as an adult I moved out of their range, and have not seen them again (yes I'm old enough to have seen a few broods if only I was living in the right place). But then I have always had a soft spot in my heart for inverts of every sort. Nowadays that's all I keep (being a turtle, then parrot, keeper in my life my usual pet preferences live too long for an old person to keep)
@@lidathorn6449 Ahh, but I _loved_ those beady red eyes as a kid. Way cool. Not demonic. Now for a great demonic look, try a tailless whip scorpion. I love those guys too, but for the creepy factor :)
ghetto AFFFF if you're broke just say so... why is it some of the most ghetto ppl have to make a hobby look so trashy. gonna potentially spend hundreds on a fuckin snake you cant even properly house 🤦🏽♂
It looks like the Reason it didnt stick is bec u didnt remove the outter layer on the expanding foam that is like probably the most important part i want to do these ao bad but i can not get over the thought that there is just absolutely no way to properly clean that if they were to shit a good wet nasty fruit poop on it or something like that id die if i went thru all of that for the baby to just shit all over it
Been using these for several years and several species and the only escape was because I messed up putting on the door and didn't think it was gonna be an issue lol So I had to fix that just by adding another "lock" where the little gap was.. You shouldn't immediately shun something without trying it first. The snakes are very very content in their tubs 😊
@@MotherTruckinReptiles I stand by my first statement this is what not to do or use if u cant afford proper housing u shouldn't have the animal its keepers like u why we have so many problems diy home made junk one reason why we have so much trouble here in Florida because people like u ! iv been breeding an keeping reptiles over 40 years an u telling people this is good just shows how stupid u are ffs with keepers like u in a few years we wont be able to own anything
I keep all of my corn snakes in these! Bigger tubs of course, and just like with any commercially available enclosure, I wouldn't recommend it for a hatchling! I start my hatchling colubrids in a smaller tub or larger critter keeper, but once they grow out of it, they're ready for one of these
That is a great point I'll make sure to bring up when I redo this video. I use the raw steel kind it's not coated in zinc (which makes it cheaper btw) 👍😊
Hi! I’m currently making a few of these ( or experimenting with run sizes ect ) my bf was all gung ho about screws ect , I told him it was gorilla glue and zip ties , Can you explain to us why screws were not used but zip ties and gorilla glue? I prefer it myself !
Gorilla glue is just for the Acrylic side. Most adhesives don't stick to the tubs (hot glue would be better) The threads in a screw, along with door movement can crack the plexiglass and will eventually wear down the plastic, making the hole bigger and eventually comes loose.
