Thank you Connor, that’s very encouraging. I’ve taken a hiatus of sorts as I’m currently working in a totally different industry atm. And playing drums are impossible in my living quarters 😅 but…God-willing I will def make a return to youtube 🤍
well uhh 5 years late, but here’s my review of this as a person who obesses wayy too much over caravan: It was alright. I think it was a good try for it being a first time playing on actual drums, i feel tho that the intro could’ve been played a bit better as its not a very difficult part to remember (except maybe to go from the bell to the ride cymbal before a tom fill). Also in Caravan the ghost notes are way easier to hear. The snare tuning is a bit off too, as the tuning they use in the song is more dark and detuned. The swing part is uhhhhh interesting. I think it was a bit too straight, swing is a hard thing to emulate unless you have a pretty clear idea of how it is supposed to sound. I did like it during the trombone solo when you played it on the crash, it sounded awful next to the song but on its own i liked it. I did really enjoy the drum solo tho, good job with that, it had a bit of a rock feel to it but overall I liked it as a jazz drummer. overall score without considering its a first try: 4/10 overall score considering its a first try: 6/10
