Here you can find the episodes of the series Hungarian Folk Tales in English.
The Hungarian Folk Tales stem from original folktale collections, every episode has its special authentic ornamentation. The makers used the decorative art of a certain countryside region at each episode. The trio of folk art, folk music and folk tales are masterfully combined in the episodes, which have unique imagery, sometimes spicy folk humor in the dialogues. Thanks to the natural presentation of the storytellers, and the music of the Kaláka band, the viewer can experience something unique and special.
How could the king kick his own daughter out for the subject of salt? Here’s an FYI for all of you, salt is not only needed for cooking and food taste, but also for treating tonsillitis. You can gargle warm salt water once per hour. The salt water acts as a magnet for the virus that causes tonsillitis and you’ll be washing out the virus.
In portugal we have dish based on that tale that. It's the literal translation "Sopa da Pedra". In the version i was told, instead of a soldier it was about daily workers far away from home. Due to not being able to just go home and come back during lunch time, he would have to stay and make food and that being the reason he was searching where to make it. Other workers would reunite and each one being the one who offers a piece of food. Like the old lady, in their perspective they had nothing, but together they had enough for a meal. I'm not sure if my story version was the same for everyone in my country tho.
Peter and Paul (S5E09) Angel Lambs (S6E09) Cerceruska (S06E09) - [Sister Alenushka & Brother Ivanushka] [Little Brother and Little Sister - Brothers Grimm Version]
I love the contrast of these folklore tels to the ones form germany where i come from. Most of them are very scary and have death as a main part of it. Well, at least the original versions
There's some weird death theme to this that I can't wrap my head around. Like the straw, coal, and bladder miss being a wheat plant, oak tree, and pig but the hot coal wants to stay a hot coal so it accidently kills its friends and their souls don't reincarnate.
Hungarian tales are masterpieces ❤ seriously I am amazed by their culture even more the language, watching these in hungarian hits different 😊 as a Mexican I've got to notice we share many things in common, such rich culture.
