I'm an artist/ designer and inventor. My passion is finding great ways to make particularly with and for children. I run workshops all over the UK and the world if the money is good!
xD Could be interesting to make it so that no waste is produced. Re-heated glue, just before touching the scraps, then scraps are removed with a scrapper, or by rolling in a sharper angle. Or: the "belt" could be done of innertube/rubber. Before touching the groud, it is streched by two rollers. Then when arriving to the "trash box", the rubber tension is released, so the scrap doest adhere anymore.
Hey is anyone tried to use non toxic materials to make this structures ? Flour glue (or lime-white cheese one?), then linseed oil when dry..? I wonder if it could be viable to make construction beam like this...
This seems a lot easier than tying wires. I’m still a beginner though i have made a couple moon pendants and one cat hanging decor. I will try this method, it seems more safer than accidentally being poked by sharp ends.
So helpful! I’m a textile artist wanting to explore 3D sculptures. Your taping technique looks perfect. Can you share what type of wire you use? I’m in the US but guessing types and gauges are maybe universal? Thanks for sharing your wonderful tips and work.
These are bearings. uk.rs-online.com/web/p/guide-wheels/2590094?cm_mmc=UK-PLA-DS3A-_-google-_-CSS_UK_EN_Bearings_%26_Seals_Mob_Whoop-_-Guide+Wheels_Whoop-_-2590094&matchtype=&pla-307678589468&cq_src=google_ads&cq_cmp=12814776670&cq_term=&cq_plac=&cq_net=g&cq_plt=gp&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqc6aBhC4ARIsAN06NmOe_PyKjla1M_3QAXXYYOMI7R9DO3d3QCax_RcpFLUnsKh1Fk5-N3saAiyxEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Each bearing can move so you adjust till wire straight. @@darcystuff Thank you! Pricey wheels at GBP30 each, but nice quality. Looks like they have a deep V groove. Do you need that deep V groove or is it better to have a shallow U shape on a nylon wheel? Amazon has nylon wheels with U groove at a great price.
A wire sculpture is hard for the eye to see, as the front and back merge. I think the tape tabs gives a much better look. If you don’t like the tape tabs you just twist on the tape completely. Darcy
My favourite at the moment is 0.9mm galvanised tie wire the best place to get in uk that I know is www.fhbrundle.co.uk/products/040203090__Galvanised_Wire_0_90mm_x_1_2kg_Coil_Tying_Wire
Your trouble shooting, problem solving, and execution skills are off the charts! Your machine design and building skills are fantastic too. I wish I was your neighbor! Please keep sharing your life's adventure with us. Liked your movie too! Cheers.
I love to exercise, but pushups are boring and difficult. You have just given me the idea to make your lizard count with his tongue. If you add a river-boat water wheel with numbers then it will count perhaps to 10. I must invent a pushup machine that has a rope and a pulley that picks up a sandbag as I do pushups. If I can pick up 10 ten pound sandbags then I can move 100 pounds and I will feel that my pushups accomplished something. Rowing across the Atlantic Ocean seems like a big boring workout because apparently it takes 2 men at least 90 days to do it. With gears and levers rowing by one man with your skills would be fun if it takes only 30 days! Hmm.. I think it would have to be a submarine with turtle feet or a dolphin tail. You are an expert artist. Thank you.
I think newspaper is quite different to card, surface and texture. There are paper cruncher applications out there. What is your development budget, what would you corrugated newspaper for?
This machine cuts wire to length. I work running wire sculpture workshops with young people. This machine allows them to cut their own wire. It’s mechanical theatre, the machines presence adds so much to atmosphere of a workshop. It’s amazing to see.
