My mom in late 1962 purchased a 1962 4-dr sedan ermine white chevy impala family. car. The car was ordered by an elderly couple who took owner ship of it, but only kept it for 10 months and they turned it back to the salesman, which I used to mow his yard, and that's why I knew about the car. The car was indeed loaded, with power seats and windows and brakes with air and get this..a 327-300hp engine with duel exhaust and a rochester 4bbl carb. I remember the heads on the engine were double hump heads. I was 15 years in age @ the time. My mom kept that car until 1979. The only thing I can remember is that the power glide tranny was rebuilt in 1976 because I lived in LA @ the time and she told me about it. She had the car serviced very regularly and even made three trips in it from Dallas to Los Angeles and never any trouble on the trips. These cars were great cars back then compared to this shish they are making now. I my self have 2 classic 70's cars and I cherish the shish out of them and will not let them go. Hell on this mess automakers are making now. BTW..my two classics are a 1974 Cutlass Supreme and a 1978 Delta 88 Royale Brougham. The Cutlass has 56333 original miles and the Delta has 14434 original miles. Thank You.
I bought a 62 biscayne 409 3 speed in high school for $250 sidepipe headers chromed shroud polished radiator top high back bucket out of a duster straight as a pin in medium metallic blue all orig It was nicknamed bisquick by friends. Wish i kept that one

@@jsburkhart thats suprising ,most factory 409 4 speed that original and low mileage have hit that price range ,just s clean 327 auto models around are getting 40 to 50 thousand ,it shocked me seeing those prices but that was a year or two back so i have seen prices coming down on some other cars but not the factory 409 cars
@@rctopfueler2841 I don't disagree, but as a dealer we like to turn the inventory rather than hold onto it for the top dollar possible. I think this is the best example for sale anywhere after seeing how original and amazing it is underneath.
Many years ago, I bought a 62 Impala with a 409 in 1968 for $200. The camshaft and lifters were shot. Being in high school, I didn't have the money to fix it. Instead, I made a deal with a guy where I would give him the engine in trade for a good running 283. Kept the car for another year, then sold it for $200 when I went into the Army.
I can identify with that. Bought 3 62's one with 327,300 heads one with 409 quad carburetors it ended up with 283 because of careless oil change these both had the Borge/Warner four speeds. Finally a 327 with auto trans. All before being drafted.
@@jsburkharthe was pointing out that the paint is in way to nice of condition to be mistaken as being original. What he went on to about copper vs brass radiator was a mystery to me too though...😂
@@aldousorwell3807 Thanks for clarifying. I thought I mentioned that the original radiator had been exchanged for an aluminum radiator in place of the original, if that was unclear.
I can assure you, this thing IS NOT slow. If you need to tow a 10K boat or camper, a family of 6-8, and all the stuff that goes along with them, what would you suggest buying? A new family?

@@jsburkhart I have no doubt! Always wanted a single cab 4x4 SE with the 6 cylinder and chrome package... Settled on another young man truck, a 2002 victory red Xtreme regular cab, step side with the 4.3L.

I have a 68 flh myself it's called a flat side shovel not a shovel pan . They used leftover panhead lower ends redrilled oil passages a new oil pump in 68 they went with a stator in 70 . I use to have a bike shop I have owned my 68 since 78 I'm 66 years old. Sorry I can't stand it when people call that engine a pan shovel. It's unique the motor was made for 4 years no other Harley motor has that title. By the way that's a beautiful machine thanks for sharing. 👍✌️ From SC
It is often referred to as a pan-shovel or a generator-shovel due to the fact the bottom of the engine is basically the same as the pan head and it uses a generator instead of the stator on a later model. This model of shovel head looks nothing like a later model shovel and is much more desirable as a classic looking Harley engine. The later shovel looks almost identical to an Evolution. There is a HUGE difference between the two. I have never heard of the term "flat side shovel" but I am sure there are many names for it.
@@jsburkhart the term flat side shovel comes from the right side case yes it t is a pan bottom end with the oil passages drilled different in 68 . It got its name because they only made it from 66-69 . No harm no foul ✌️
When I was much younger I rode a 63 xlh with a generator , 6 volt. It was kind of a pain at night when you slowed down and the light would get dimmer , you have to rev it to make the light brighter. I was running a mag. No battery. Still got the old bird.😉
Best Cars ever made I have 01 Japanese model and have mines fixed up so nicely and I get asked all the time about selling my car. These particular model camrys will run forever with only simple maintenance and most importantly no car note I'll keep mines if I was you my friend 😊.

@Guappo4Prez2012 we can agree to disagree. There are definitely two very different Shovelhead engines. If you're a panhead expert maybe the bottom end of this engine looks familiar to you...
This is when a HD was a HD. I have had a 41, a 48, and a 56 and they, along with this beauty of an example, leave the street glides, and wides, and softs and fxrgfrz models paling in comparison. I assure not one street glide will still be running 35 years from now.
