I started with a small, 4x5 meter cabin to gain experience, doing most of the work myself with help from friends. After three years of learning, we took on a larger project-the cabin we now call home.

I have never seen insulation used on top of a floor, on an upstairs floor. I don't understand it. All exterior walls in the enterior are usually insulated and sometimes under a crawl space but never over a floor in upstairs rooms. No need to respond, just curious.
The insulation proved to be a very good solution to the bowl of sound. When the kids on the upper floor are playing and running wild, it's much better downstairs. :)
James Mardeusz here, from California. I have watched your videos with delight. You are a beautiful Man. You mentioned that you copied Nicks home, I would say instead that you were inspired by Nicks home. The way you used the timbers is much more interesting and finished looking then Nicks. Please do not tell this to Nick, Ha! a much better overall quality & insulated weather proofed home. You are a fine craftsman and must have worked with wood for a long time. My father was a builder, he amazed me and everyone with his ingenuity and creativeness. Also, you are very exacting. Not only that, but you are also uncomplicated. How beautiful is it you have all these talents and cooking too. I'm sure your wife does, but I hope your wife loves everything about you. This house you built; it was good to see you have friends that offer help to you. You may never know this in your lifetime but from my seeing all that my father did, I'm sure when your children get much older, they will look back and marvel at all you did and who you are as a person. Lastly your end product in this home you built, you must have a sense of pride knowing all you did was not just for you but to give your wife and children a feeling that you made all the effort to enrich their lives. The tile on the roof turned out very nice. The fact you designed the house cantilevered with the space under it. I'll keep watching because I want to see if you cover the cement foundation in stone. I'm hoping to see the interior design complete. The way you did the staggered floor upstairs Is great for the final treatment of the ceiling below; I just keep wondering if you will need to put planking over the top of the floor upstairs to have a smooth flooring. This house is so well built, it will be standing two hundred years from now. all the best of luck to you! James
