what should I do when i get the I/O error when trying to initialize the ssd? my kingston ssd does get recognised, but after trying to initialize the drive, I get the error and after that the drive suddenly isn't available. it does keep showing as unkown device, but the memory size disapears underneath it. does this mean the drive is dead or is there a way to fix this. seen that the drive does do the psu reset...do i need to rebuild the MBR?

just FIY this is by no means a viceo bashing AMD, it just seems, they are kind of stagnant with this generation, similar to what intel did inbetreen the 3rd and 7th generation of CPUs. Also interesting to note and has been brought to my attention: It seems, in applications the power limit seems to be the big limiting factor. (in gaming also but not as much) this means, if the CPUs were ran at the same power level as the 7000 Series, Performance would be quite a bit higher (depending on scenario 5-10 Percent.

Great video - I have also successfully a WD BlueSA510 by connecting via USB to Ubuntu 24.04, (with both power and data connected), and running the Disks utility. Using the Check File System option the drive's activity light came up and the drive started to re-establish all the files. The process took over 3 hours to recover approx 120GB of data, but was successful. No data loss.

i have a ssd which i use as an external drive with a sata to usb connector case, it connects and shows the files when plugged for a second and disconnects immediately (not showing on diskpart etc afterwards). it's not the sata2usb adapter case or the cables or the laptop port, i checked it via different sata storage and it works. what could be the problem, ssd is kinda new, too, i bought it 6 months ago or so. i am a 30+ year pc user and i am good at troubleshooting at software side but i am not very versed at hardware side honestly. oh also, i tried the ssd on different laptops with different operating systems, same problem. and lastly, i connect the ssd to my laptops internally, i plugged out the sata hdd with linux inside, and i plugged in the ssd, it's not recognized in the bios, but i can see the damn files even though it's just for a second when i plugged it into windows externally.

I once in a while run into error-code 0xc000000e. When I tried to solve it, I've found out, my Samsung SDD seems gone. So far it seems to work that I disconnect the SDD from the PC, and connect it again. Problem solved! But it may take a month then it happens again. Wonder what causes it...

7 years ago no one could really come up with any reason to buy amd for gaming orher than its price but you got what you paid for. Today with amds pricing, i can not think of any reason at all to buy intel. I can think of about 20 reason you WOULD NOT want to buy intel. If the pricing leaks for 9000 is accurate.. no one should buy intel. Literally at all at all. It would be ne incredibly stupid no matter what your workload.

The end user should not have to consider any of this. Intel should offer free, preemptive redundancy upon request, at the original advertised specification, sending out the new CPU *before* evidence of failure has occurred, contingent on the end user never holding onto more than two CPUs at a time, or a full motherboard upgrade with a new technically superior CPU and board at Intel's option.

One reccomendation, stay away from chinese brands. They fail often, and early. Some people will tet for a while and trust a brand but they change over time. Had luck in the past with XrayDisk for instance, but now i've got a dead drive from them with less then a year of use. Same for walram, they will usually stop writing, your pc will freeze or get really slow when trying to write, thy get stuck on a read only mode. On the walram i could just delete files and keep going, as long as it was under half capacity it was fine, but after a while of trying to orce erros to show RMA it's dead to the point pc won't get to bios. The xraydisk will just freeze if i try to write anything, deleting files will do nothing, so i just treat it as read only ever since. A lot of money went down the drain on those. Chinese satas are usually fine (tough usually very slow), but avoid chinese nvmes like the plague.

im not sure exactly what you mean by this, if its just needing time to initialize, you could disable fast boot if its active and delay the splash screen. on a few motherboards that can be done. though on many motherboards when you are in the bios and exit it with esc, the pc will not restart, but continue to boot. you could do the same with the boot menu, boot into that, wait until its initioalized i guess and then boot. that way you can "delay" the boot process if that is what you think works. never heard of that tho

The electromigration angle I've not come across before. With newer 30/40 series cards I'm a little skeptical - not heard much else about the cores dying straight out on these. If anything it's the PCBs getting warped and damaged solder balls/traces. On the CPU side I did think it was a bit much sending VIDs of 1400mV down a 10nm process on a 13900k when we did similar with the old Core 2 Quads on 65nm. But those seem to be holding out , as do Ryzens on 7nm and 14nm Intels. The newest Ryzens are designed for very high operating temps too. So I'm not sure if electromigration is going to be a massive problem for those who don't send 900W down their 4090s (I have seen a video here of someone doing exactly that , and the card dies pretty quicky 😂). I do however have a very relevant story of a 2080ti dying though recently almost exactly 2 years after I bought it second hand . Reason was that the memory controller basically cooked itself , with a part of the core near the edge being not cooled enough - but not near sensors which would have showed in hotspots. I got this second hand towards the end of the etherium mining boom so the previous owner would have possibly mined with it. The other thing I noticed about that is that the default fan curve was extremely conservative and had the hotspot running to 90+C (in hindsight I should have repasted it but it didn't seem too much higher than the core temp ). I did overclock and max the power budget out on this card as I needed the performance. But I imagine this card being hammered with little cooling when mined with -there wouldnt be a fan profile for max memory load and min core load.
