(Channel formerly known as Frightful) As a columnist for the acclaimed paranormal magazine, The Fortean Times and an 'expert' on the BBC Sounds show Uncanny, I've always been interested in the dark corners of the paranormal. Here I bring those stories to light.

NON-FICTION: I also wrote the popular nonfiction book The Frighteners, a globe-trotting adventure that explains (and defends) the human morbid streak.
FICTION NOVELS: I'm the creator of the popular Matt Hunter books - scary crime thrillers about an ex-church minister turned atheist professor, who helps the police solve religious and paranormal-related crimes.
CREEPY COVE COMMUNITY CHURCH: I created the cult podcast...Creepy Cove with full and immersive church services, broadcast from a mysterious haunted fishing town (where all horror movies actually happened!) hear this unhinged comedy, well-being and horror...with music albums too!
Another great video sir, sorry I’ve been missing for a few weeks my moms really Ill , I’ll make sure I catch up with all ur vids and like and comment on them all
I had some issues for a number of years, a couple of major uk churches described it as demonic....but the weirdest one I had and I later heard another family on here who had a similar issue. A giant 2 legged walking backwards dog......sounds daft imagine when I heard someone else have it....I never saw it, reason I know was that id dropped talc on the bathroom floor. Not like paranormal activity.....woke up the next day there were 7 giant paw prints going across the landing huge strides talking about 5-6 feet. The paw prints direction was from my room to the bathroom, the talc was in the bathroom not my room or it was walking backwards.....and before anyone laughs...i am a scientist, I did try to see if my feet could do it these where clearly opposing paw prints and even had nails. Throw in all the other weird stuff which wasnt necessary you could tell i had a big issue without all that.......without a doubt...weird i know. :)
Why didn't the pastor rebuke the spirit in the Name of Jesus and order it to leave? If he was a true and obedient Christian, he would have that authority in Christ.
I very much enjoyed your exploration of this topic. One thing I would add (my bias being a non-religious upbringing) would be the paranormal as a new form of folklore. You sort of touched on it anyway but I think our cultural love of stories and liminal experience meshes beautifully with the anti-dogmatic and personal experience of paranormal culture. It's on the ground, in the hands of the people, anti-authority, and social media has allowed us to absolutely run with it in that form. I think religion can be more limited by a feeling that it needs to be authentic and so there needs to be someone to tell you how to do it "right". Given that I was just reading about someone who only wanted the 'original' method for making fullmoon water so I guess people still like guidance!
I have a copy of the book written in the 30’s about Borley Rectory by the foremost skeptic of those days. It was impressive how many people brought in there for a night or two over the course of a year had absolutely irrefutable paranormal encounters. The evidence was physical & documented by impeccable witnesses
❤ wow...what an incredible story! How could he live that way for so long? I feel like I would have been running down the road after that first door slam😳
That was amazing!! Thanks to Gary for sharing and for your absolutely spine tingling story telling. I'm just giddy that I have somehow stumbled upon your site❤ very reminiscent of the old time radio stories, of which I am a long time listener. Thank you!!
Such a sad story, my heart just breaks for those children and his wife. It makes you wonder if he was using possession as an excuse to kill his family. The fact he was such an abusive man, perhaps he thought he’d get away with their murders if he claimed they were possessed. I don’t know, I just get an extremely bad feeling about him.
Sorry, the singing is just me testing the acoustics. Once I'd just finished my Ave Maria when a cleaning lady popped out from behind a pillar and scared me. 😂
Such an emotional story.. It really pulled that string within me. And from what I am reading I wasnt the only one. We all yearn for pure Goodness and perfect, unconditional love. Thank You for telling this story Reverend Laws (I just realised you are a real Reverend, I thought it was just some sort of a nickname you were given by the viewers😅)
I've had many experiences with that board, my husband's sister was marked at birth as well as her first born son. She was like you Peter, eager to see what's on 'the other side,' she found out in several horrific ways. She's in her 60-s & it's still there, waiting, biding its time. Thrilled to see your channel growing so fast!! Not a surprise as you're one of the top 10 truly wonderful channels. Weaving a story so that you can picture it in your head. A very gifted storyteller. 🤗☺ Edit: I believe that the Ouija+board is a doorway or gateway. 🤔Sometimes nothing happens, sometimes you'll interact with good/kind spirits & other times you'll draw out something you cannot control. It will end up controlling you.
How can a priest have no experience of the paranormal did he actually believe in God? He clearly courted a demon by paying attention to it instead of using the holy name of Jesus to demand it leave. Incredible how a priest didn't know what this was and how to handle it. A catholic priest would know what to do and what this activity was in my opinion.
Bang on!!!! In my youth, I read John Keel who presented the combined perspective and I follow Truth Proof, a site that focuses on an area I visit quite regularly. They also have this combined vision and it makes so much sense when you see areas with a range of occurances. Interesting stuff!!!!
