Might be me, but maple's tuning seems just a tiny bit higher on floor. At least it has a high ringing to it, which is beautiful. However, birch is a big time yes for me :D
That's a beautiful looking kit. And the rotation is SO much better than a static shot as it shows off the chrome (which looks really well done on this kit) and any other reflective surfaces brilliantly. And I'm a sucker for shiny drums!
Have used this exact snare with the matching Live Oak Custom kit as a back line kit at a festival…it was GREAT ! The whole kit sounded great and this snare was a joy to play 👍😎
Paiste Signature Series are the best line of cymbals ever created. As weird as it may seem, I'm primarily a deathmetal drummer. The band I'm currently with has me playing in the 220bpm, 230bpm, and 240bpm ranges. Blastbeats, 12th and 16th notes double bass, etc. I only play on Paiste cymbals. I should be using Rudes, 2002, and 900 Series for the style of music I'm playing. Instead, I'm using the following... Paiste: - 16" Twenty Series Thin China - 14" Sound Formula Reflector Medium Heavy Hi-Hat - 10" Signature Series Splash - 16" Signature Series Fast Crash - 10" Signature Reflector Splash - 19" Signature Series Full Crash - 14" Alpha Medium Hi-Hat - 14" Signature Series Full Crash - 20" Signature Series Dry Ride - 18" Alpha Rock China As soon as I can, I'll be replacing the 18" Alpha China with an 18" Rude China. The 16" Twenty Series China with a 14" Rude Blast China. I think the Rude line has great chinas. I will also be replacing both of my hi-hats for a 14" Signature Series Medium Hi-Hat and a 13" Signature Dark Crisp Hi-Hat. I'll pick up some used ones in good condition for around $600 total instead of the $1,100 it would normally be.
This is hands down the best 10" side snare there is..and steel works really well and cuts through with great bottom end and the chrome finish looks good with any kit setup. It's not cheap like the pearl or the gretsch nor expensive like Peter Erskine's tama stave ash or Harvey Mason's canopus stave walnut..this thing is dead right.❤
