That might actually be impossible. Even sub 2:13 sounds already quite hard. If we wanted to do sub 2 minutes, that would be by using cheats imo Gaining 14 seconds is way too huge to hope getting that record below 2 minutes.
Thank you ! The previous World record was 1 year old, it needed a refresh. 8-8 is actually the worst as the cube's movements are more or less random depending on where it lands on the spikes. Thank you ! PS : are you planning to play again on cal ? Only asking as I noticed the speedrun.com page was pretty inactive these few weeks. ( well I also stopped playing it for a while so, fair enough)
That's a glitch doable by diving into the platform at a certain place with a certain timing That's quite blur for me too as I dont't really know how it actually works, so there is no any consistent way known yet to do it properly at every attempt.
That theoretically would be faster indeed, but because of the lava under the platform slot, you just die and lose a second or so in the next room. Maybe I would try to compare the timing but I'm not quite sure it is faster.
I just watched you old full game speedrun, and i was pretty impressed by your route, now i see this run and am completely blown away... great job, great run!
I just wanted to watch world 5 cause I'm really routing that right now, and I was suprsed that we have the exact same route except for level 10 where this is an additional skip you can do by only creating 2 of the three platforms though I also see why you might not go for it in a full game run, very well played though!
If you jump high enough then launch it, it reaches the other side of the pit, just don't throw if you are not high enough, otherwise it will go to the bridge, indeed. The hardest strat may work but is pretty hard to execute in a full run, that's why this one is a backup and safer way to get close to the timings required for the end of the room.
If you're going to claim the faster 5-5 strat is too hard for full-world runs, I'd like to say the same for 5-3. Similarly in 5-4, in my experience the last spike before the checkpoint kills you too frequently to rely on that extended damage boost, so I find it's best to jump over instead. Also in 5-4, the last pit can be hyper jumped over without needing to make a platform, I only haven't yet out of convenience or safety. Lastly, I don't even know what to make of room 10. Was that done because it's easier? For anyone else who happens to read this, there's one more elevator clip that's possible in room 7 they didn't go for because there's no consistent setup. Just know that it is possible and you lose no time trying.
I can indeed understand the confusion and the unsafety strat for 5-3, but I somehow managed to find some points of references to know where I have to be at what time and then throw it correctly. I think the 5-5 strat is indeed too hard for a full world run because it uses multiple long spike jumps in a shory amount of time, even if the 5-3 strat is different, it can still be improved and done well with some training on the placement and the timing. About 5-4, the large spike before the checkpoint may be deadly most of the time and I indeed didn't manage to do the same kind of skip with the transition level ( yes, the timings are slighly different depending if you restart a run from the menu, or if you do it from a transition level, but I think you know that) The 5-10 route is hard to explain correctly, because I don't know yet if it is better to go on the left wall or in the right wall with the 2 orange blocks. But as I see you seeem confusef with that route what don't you get it with 5-10 ?
@@Petit_SaturneI was just confused about seeing a different strategy at the very beginning that appeared to be slower than what I came up with. But after watching both our videos side by side, they turn out to reach the second orange cube at roughly the exact same time (it's a little surreal how close it is). The only difference is your idea seems easier.
That was a pretty hard thing to figure out how to cycle skip the cannons, it took me around 2 month to do it perfectly well, or at least stop failing and killing runs with this skip. The 2-10 skip at the end isn't from me, but I managed to do it a bit faster. Unfortunately I failed spike jumps at 2-8 and 2-9, so I think a run under 4 minutes is possible Feel free to try if you want to beat me ;) Good luck and thank you !
@@Petit_Saturne Sub-4 has actually been possible for a while (my own personal sum-of-best is 3:58 without the new strats). The new ideas do make it much more viable, however.
@@Zackery_Dempsey Sum-of-best can be a good idea to estimate the fastest time possible, but as you know too, this time is extrememly hard to reach because your best segments haven't been done at the same time. About new strats, which one didn't you use in your S-o-B ? 2-7 and 2-10 or are there more you didn't count ?
@@Petit_Saturne Yeah, 1-10 is the hardest part by far. To give some perspective, it took me about three weeks after starting to bring the record down from 2:24 to 2:18, including coming up with new timesaves. Then I discovered the 1-10 wall jump and the next record took another 3 months.
@@Zackery_Dempsey I see it took a long time to get your best time then. I guess it's gonna be hard for me to do a time under 2:14, but I noticed you slightly failed on a long spike jump, and I also found a way to be slightly faster in the end of 1-10. With some optimisations, I hope I could break your record. What about world 5 ? Still working on 5-7 or did you move on ?
@@Petit_Saturne The miss on the spike jump did cost a half-second, yes, and if the 1-10 time save you have in mind is dropping off of the last floating platform instead of jump-diving I'm aware, I only didn't in my 2:14 because the nerves were getting to me and I was sure I'd mess up and die. World 5 I'm still working on, but there are a lot of difficult sections, plus phone issues, and I've been spending more time on Arknights content, so progress has been steady but slow.
That's clearly not what that sound means, as you can see all three objects simultaneously explode right before and on the elevator right after, not to mention there's nothing visible there and you were forced upward, not down. My guess is that there was a moment after it exploded or as it was moving back to its respawn point where it became interactive when it shouldn't, similar to the delay that occurs when they transform after despawning. Regardless, this is along the same line been contemplating lately but never got around to testing. Even if it's not a complete answer, it should hopefully be more consistent than wild guessing.
After many attempts, I guess the clip occurs because of the hexagons when they explode, touching the middle line doesn't seem to have a big impact on it. I just managed to clip through both platforms in a same attempt Diving in the perfect frame when the hexagon blows up and when the platform is not in the screen might be a reason why the clip occurs.
@@Petit_Saturne That doesn't explain the first elevator at the start of the room nor the one in 2-5, neither of which feature explosions but can be clipped through. It's also possible on those two in question without timing the dive to the explosions. I believe you were partially right before, and that it's a matter of both timing and positioning.
These seem to be more setups than explanations, and after trying them for a bit they seem to be inconsistent at best (I got the second clip once). I have an old recording of getting the clip in 2-5 that seems to defy any explanation I can come up with along with this video: there are no objects and the dive time is about 0.2 seconds. Also the platform moves horizontally and apparently still has enough collision to push the cat out the other side. The only explanation I can come up with at this point is that the dynamic nature of these platforms gives them wonky collision, but that doesn't help even if it turns out to be true.
Yeah, looks like these clips are really hard to understand. By tring new things yesterday I got another idea by using the line thay you can see in the middle of the platform. It worked better but it seems like we need to be on a exact place before diving. I'll share you this when I manage to do it again.
That's true, I'm currently tring to find another way to do it faster, using the first springboard to get enough speed to throw the hexagon directly after the checkpoint. It seems to work, the hardest part is to throw it correctly next to the springboard to launch it properly after.
That actually worked indeed, but by doing this, I took damages later and so I couldn't go faster then, the pipe just after the checkpoint was orange and so I took a damage. That was the former route I took. By doing this at 2:16, I'm fast enough to don't be in late and so I take less damage. If I jump, I'm slower and I can't go at the same speed without dying
@@Petit_Saturne It sounds like it's just a way to waste time while waiting, no different than staying still in the pipes. Anyways, I think it's possible to avoid waiting altogether; I'm trying to record a blueprint of what that would look like.
Technically I've been playing a lot longer (9 months), I've just been going through the worlds in order. Speaking of which, still waiting for you to try 1 and 2 with damage.
I didn't precise when you have started to play, I only mentionned that we are fighting for first place for world 3. And yeah I was sure you did worlds in order
About World 1 and 2. I'm trying to beat 2 but your jumps on 2-1 and 2-7 are soo perfect, can't manage to do the same thing, I think if I do them well, I can beat you. Anyway I take your comment as a challenge :)
@@galactic_studio09 no, I only speedrun it. But I consider you come from the Discord Server Cats are speedy so it means you like speedrun. So it's our main quote to say "speed".
