If you love them double and triple check their Moorings if you really love them then maybe you should have been abord when Henk was beating it about the canal side, just prior to ripping it free. I live in South Florida United States and I have seen people do unbelievable s*** to protect their large and small vessels

This is a good illustration of "flood plains" and "planning law" which certain government ministers are fond of attacking. Still, they found the money to raise the whole of the A6 up on stilts - I suspect the Grand Central Railway is somewhere beneath the waves.
Thanks for the drone footage very well done! I have lived and worked in the Soar Valley for over 60 years travel along the bypass every day, never ever seen it flooded at Proctors on both sides of the river, this is mostly down to management of the waterways, when did you last see dredging in the rivers, all down to EU dictates! if they were deeper it would be a lot less and people homes whether on land or water would not be devastated, they must be bricking themselves each time it rains a lot, I feel for them! It must be idyllic living next to the river, but there is always that once in a lifetime event, fortunately for me we live at one on the highest parts of our village!
My boat sank this summer and it hurts so much to see a craft in this position. Definitely know how the owners are feeling, I’m still not back on board just yet and am from the area too.
Mine went down just outside Beeston Marina, on my way back from Newark, heading to Leicester. Currently getting done up at Red Hill. Love Barrow, so nice during the summer.

She was holding Her Own till the canal and River Rescue Goons messed with it trying to pull it in the Wrong Direction just like they did with a boat in Ely a few years ago.

Yup investment in a pointless HS2 to benefit the few is much better than building resilience infrastructure. After all we just pay more and more to insurance companies and the governments do NOTHING. In the Netherlands they invest in resilience. Vote for more flooding in the next election, whoever you vote for you'll get it.

I've lived in Mountsorrel for 38 years (not affected directly, fortunately) but know the area well. I have never seen it as bad as this. The caravans in Proctor's have always just managed to stay above it, but not now. I feel sorry for anyone affected. Very interesting video, thanks for posting it. (I won't say good because it's not the right word in the circumstances)
Amazing footage. Thank you for sharing. It seems mountsorrel is flooded, roads at the waterside inn and at Waitrose closed. Quorn village centre and village car park, the green and war memorial, the Royal Oak, and Bradley’s etc all closed and flooded out. Sileby village centre on brook street closed and flooded out. And Leicester city abbey lane near McDonald’s is 3 feet underwater and closed. Seriously limiting entering and exiting the city. The worst flooding I’ve ever seen! Sympathy to all flooded out. Shit way to start a new year.
Happy memories of visiting Bradgate park with my family and other memories of running round the park on school cross country runs in winter and we had to run through the river not go over the bridge in the middle of winter
