The most normal Residents album. Shows just how talented The Residents truly are, either if they make normal pop/rock music or the most batshit insane music ever.
I'll comment this year, I was lucky enough to share the bill with them a couple times, and became an instant diehard fan. The first time at a shit warehouse party , they came on at like 3 in the morning and completely blew our minds, I couldn't believe I opened for them! Timmy was always so friendly to me, I still love his music all these decades later. A visionary!
Although their best album is Toxicity, I think the most authentic, craziest SOAD, when they were at their best live, was on the tour for their first album. After that, in my opinion, they're not a band with a great live show, and those days when they were even a little scary are long gone, now they're a very "all audiences" band. Serj Tankian had a Jello Biafra vibe that was cool in that era.
I saw the PHM tour/show at the I Beam on Haight in SF and it felt just like this, small venue raw intense. 1989. Thanks for uploading, an awesome memory.
20:36 to 20:47 is when they know the solo is almost over and the real magic is going to happy at 20:48. "Who can it be now?". What a fantastic player Greg Ham was!
It's almost surreal watching this again after 46 years. I saw it live back in 78 when I was 18, still a college student in Germany. I never missed a Rockpalast gig.
