Beautiful Elite! Live that color. I've got a couple of Kymco DJs. They have almost the same rear, engine and the frame is practically the same as well. Pretty sure you can for example use the integrated flush rear light unit feom the DJ on your Elite.
Haha! I LOVE that ride! Holy Shit! What I would give....my current ride, and first ever scooter is a '85 Honda Elite 80. I've had it for two months; bought it w/ 3400mi- I just passed 4000. 77 yesterday, in Seattle. Home-base. Scooters are a blast in-city- and THIS rig would fucking kick-ass....a disguised "gun-slinger" in sheep's clothings. STEALTHY. GREAT fucking build, dude! I have ZERO skills- I just like to go fast! Totally admire your talents!!!!! AWED.
Dont put a big bore kit without replacing the crank and bearings! Many aftermarket cranks on ebay will do. Using a big bore kit on old bearings is wasting money.
Malossi is a great brand, so it Diteck, both on ebay. The issue is the bearings on the connecting rod. The crankshaft is a 2 piece and has to be pressed together where the connecting rod and it's bearing are at. So any misalignment will cause issues and you have to do a run out check, not easy if you don't have the calibrated dial indicators as well as the knowledge which I do. It's easier to buy a new crank with connecting rod ready to go. Then add new bearings on tge crankshaft ends which don't require much other than press old old out, press new one in, and new Honda bearings work great. So , as a recap, 3 bearings , one on the connecting rod on the crankshaft and one on each end of the crank shaft ends.
the crank shafts bearings went out. The bearing is a ball bearing so the bb went loose inside and beat the piston and cylinder head to hell. Wasted it, wasn't worth trying to save the cylinder and buying a new head and piston.
on ebay, was a brand called Thor motorcycle alarm. one on there now, I paid bout $30. The big bore cylinder kit was an 80mm one from ebay user chop chop. Great quality, had a polini on there before but the crank bearings went out and trashed it. I didn't want to spend $300 on another so got tge one from chop chop. Runs about 8 mph less but 1/3 the price of the Polini.
Been working on installing remote start. Im stumped. Could you fill me in on how you installed your alarm since there dosnt appear too be an alarm hookup harness. Thank you!
@rtepic Some states don't such as Arkansas and Georgia, some states don't require anything including a drivers license. Most don't require a Motorcycle endorsement or insurance. Do a search for your state. A good website is moped2DOTorg and mopedarmyDOTcom remove DOT and replace with a . add www
