With everything going on our government thinks this is a good idea to scrap the Enterprise we need every ship we have . China has out built us and we are dismantling. The Navy higher ups have their heads where the sun does not shine. And the new carriers are junk. The new one they just put in service at what cost !! Is already out of commission for a est 5 yrs. By the will be outdated WTF are we doing

ss united states shouldnt be a floating museum it should be used again for service then a museum the ships repairs highly but unlike the queen mary permentetly docked yes that could be used bbut requires alot more change to follow code of this era and well ss united states already has most of those codes ruled out so all there needed is money not for a mueseum

Sadly only in our imaginations in our wildest dreams. The concept of a museum ship wasn't even thought of total years after World War II ended, even nagato that survived World War II was sadly a victim to a lot of historically significant ships being either scrapped or used as target practice. The Yamato's have gained their legendary and somewhat mythical status in the lore and legends a pop culture in history after many long years but during that time they were killing machines. Hypothetically let's just say in a different world if Musashi or Yamato was for some reason captured or damage during the war and somehow survived World War II they would have either been scrapped or turned into a Target ship after being examined. From a historian and a maritime historian's point of view they would have been Treasures to keep because they'd be the only surviving examples of Japanese World War II battleships, but sadly the only remnants of them are either any surviving photographs pour down to bottom of the ocean as War Graves. Hypothetically we could raise the volume or any wreckage of the ship from the ocean or even some of the massive turrets of the ship or surviving artifacts from them but sadly they are War Graves to the thousands of men who died on them. It would take another Expedition it would have to be approved by the Japanese government to even recover any artifacts from Yamada or Musashi.

The only reason we have the Iowa's is because they survived World War II and reactivated multiple times during their lifespan. It's actually a miracle we still have them as many governments scrapped them as they redeemed Holden Obsolete and very costly compare the smaller and more advanced modern ships. The changes in Warfare sadly made the super battleship as well as the Montana class which was never built obsolete, even if one Montana class was built it would have been very costly to maintain and also it wouldn't be able to have as much effect in the War.

Sadly the age of these large big gun ships ended decades ago. To build a modern battleship like NJ would cost billions in development and let alone testing and building. Being that the Navy or any navy hasn't built a battleship since WW2, they would have to rebuild facilities to build and assemble the components of a ship like this let alone research how to make these ships fit into a modern battlefield. Sadly we have not found a replacement for shore bombardment troop support, we haven't fought a major war requiring such yet but we may need something like this. Sadly if the Navy ever makes a new battleship, I'll be an old man or long dead by the time that happens.

Sadly, I don't see an Iowa class battleship being resurrected any time in my lifetime due to the age of the ship's and the lack of parts for it. To reactivate these ships would take billions, you would have to train a crew to use the old ancient steam Power plant as well as the weapons on the ship which many vets of the people who knew how to use them are either deceased or in their twilight years. Also the ammunition would need to be manufactured for it again, as well as any spare parts as the infrastructure to maintain a ship like this. The only way in Hell it could happen was if a major conflict broke out and we were in desperate need of ships. Otherwise the cost of reactivating New Jersey would exceed the cost of building a brand new ship. Also even if reactivated, these ships would have to be tested and fitted with new radars and new systems and reinforced defend against modern weapons of today that a nearly 90 year old battlewagon wasn't meant to withstand such as cruise missiles, anti ship missiles and torpedoes.

the slow version as they pass the US United States feels so sad, considering what a record that particular ship holds from both the war and its civilian life as a cruise chip
@liveboatusa
@liveboatusa 2 месяца назад
@@AntonSolo Absolutely, the S.S United States is a very tragic saga as so many have tried and failed to preserve her or reactivate her. Sadly unless there is some miracle from God or divine force that can intervene, the ship is either going to be sent to turned into razorblades or be sunk as a reef. There is no 3rd option.
@liveboatusa

Absolutely! The Battleship New Jersey just like it's rival Yamato is triumphant, though the real Yamato never saw much combat and never faced off with an Iowa class Battleship, she is forever immortalized in movies, comic books as well as the famous Anime Space Battleship Yamato that depicts her being reborn as a spaceship to fight aliens thousands of lightyears away and to save Earth from destruction.
