Got up this morning, and while having a smoke outside, saw some cool dew drops on the lily leaves. The words "Dew Drop Inn" hit me, and thanks to Google, here I am!! Sure brought a smile to this ol' burnouts face!!! Thanks Tony, for puttin' this together for all of us to enjoy! Thanks to Mr Daniels, for creating this country tune before you left us.❤
That's how I felt.I owned and operated a 22 thousand foot Store for 17 years in a busy place and recently sold out to Dollar general.I then approached Bobby Ingram for a vendor permission to sale merchandise for the Band I got the cold shoulder and felt like crap, that He would not listen to a validation of a business proposition
To all you aspiring drunks: I promise, it ain't as fun as the songs make it sound. To the those already drunk: Get religion, whatever you're going through, God will see you through to the end, and he's got everything set up perfect for you when you get there.
Just simply a great song. I first heard it in 1972 when it was played late at night on Charlie Douglas' Road Gang radio show on WWL. It's also the first time I heard Jimmie Rogers sing, "When it's Peach Pickin' time in Georgia".
Do you know the name of the guy who wrote the song? I heard it was actually the Green Hill Trestle High, but Doc misunderstood the name of it when he recorded it. My friend, Bruce Hill, told me the songwriter was a friend of his. I think he was from Green Hill, NC, but I am not sure. That is up near Lake Lure. I may learn the song since I know a little of its history now. Thanks, Butch
First time I heard this song on the radio I was 18 and it immediately grabbed me. I climbed out of a dorm room bunk bed to get closer to the radio and listen for the artist and song names. The longest running of my favorite ever songs. Just a great recording. I still love it after half a century.
