The day this song came out, my grandfather passed away. I was listening to it on my way to the hospice house where he was. So this is a very special song
To me this song means something different than what was intended. To me it’s about a woman who lost the love of her life and is clinging on to the memory of him with objects he left behind. Like the “love letters” he left her and how they’re permanently woven through her heart. This has such a deep meaning. She’s not sure if she wants to continue on living without him. They were supposed to get married but he died before they got to. She still has the wedding dress, and she mentions how her heart still belongs to him. She’s still his, she’s still his one and true love “I’m yours to hide away” “Always searching, asking everywhere, looking for the one I love” she’s almost in a sad state of disbelief that her lover is gone, so she still looks for him, hoping this was some sort of mistake and somehow he’s not really gone “And I heard the whisper of your name, just the mention makes me faint” so many things still here on earth remind her of him, and the feelings she experiences are so strong that they sometimes make her faint “I fall and land in your embrace” he’s her comfort, her safety net. She can continue pretending he’s here with her and she feels safe “Your fragrance filling me with life” His clothes/other items still smell like him, and she feels most alive when she’s surrounded in his fragrance “My racing heart’s so safe with you” She’s content to hold on to his memory forever, she doesn’t want to accept the reality that he’s gone so she clings on to every last piece of him that he left behind “They can’t take me away from you” The people around her try to get her to accept his death and let go, but she feels like if she does that then she’s losing him forever “They told me I couldn’t find you here, but here you are to prove them wrong” She feels like his spirit is still with her when she’s surrounded by his belongings. She still feels his presence “And I will sing your song of all songs” She wrote this song almost as a tribute to him and is choosing to still sing it as a proclamation of her love she will always have for him She wants him to come and take her with him into the afterlife

Coming from someone who lost their mom as a child, who is currently in their mid 20's; this song resonates on a whole different level. Not in a bad way, but I feel it in my heart.
I lost my mom, but in a different way. She struggles with schizophrenia. Finally getting to see her again. So sorry for your loss, just keep your head up man
@@elijahbrink4596I lost my dad in 1996, he was schizophrenic as well, he passed away the day after my 6th birthday, sooo much of Whitechapels music resonates with me, I get it man. It’s rough, but this music helps heal those wounds.
