THIS is good "featuring": not a rapper showing up halfway through to give his opinion on an arse then disappearing, just showing up in an artist of the same label for a bit to add some awesomeness
SONG OF THE DAY (3 MAY 2015) Childhood - Blue Velvet (2014) Second time awarded the Song of the Day by this page, here's UNCUT's review of these Nottingham kids' debut: Childhood - Lacuna (MARATHON/HOUSE ANXIETY) Next to peers Palma Violets and Peace, Childhood come over as a leisurely proposition, the quartet’s debut album Lacuna displaying little in the way of beery raucousness or baggy swagger. Lightness of touch is their thing. “You Could Be Different” and “Right Beneath Me” crossbreed shoegaze and chillwave in a lilt of effectssoaked guitars and gauzy synths, singer Ben Romans-Hopcraft’s vocal veering between tippy-toes falsetto and a King Krule-ish mumble that would have teacher demanding he speak up a bit, please. “Falls Away” is a sun-dappled take on The xx’s pallid soul, “Solemn Skies” a decent stab at Primal Scream jamming. Elsewhere it can feel a little slack-jawed, its dreaminess concealing slight lack of substance. I really like this song, but I prefer the previous version. this one appears to be "overmastered" and boring. but still I love childhoodand hopefully Lacuna is not the last thing we are going to hear from them! keep it up guys!
