For me they've been pretty good lately. I usually buy off amazon or ebay for the same reason stated but sometimes I take a chance with cex. Months back they sent me (not a comparatively old game) GTA 4 with Episodes from Liberty City for the 360, and that one was in a truly shocking state... The former owner had obviously been a chain smoker or something, and thus the discs, case, manual, everything etc stunk of smoke and there was this sort of 'grime like' substance on everything. Did my best to clean it up but could never get rid of the smell - in the end I literally just wanted it out the house and so passed it onto my nephew to do something with if he could. That's an extreme example though cause everything Iv'e ordered since has been pretty damn good to be fair.
3:47: This what got me into Neversoft. I was scared of this logo when I first played Guitar Hero III. My mind was like "Ahhhh! What is that thing?!" Which was my reaction when I saw the eye.

I didn’t know it was a lottery, I bought docking station for the ps4, in the pictures it was black and in good condition and what turned up was a white very dirty device that had hints of a docking station.
Been buying from CEX for years, I had the same experience with camera gear, it truly is a lottery and not worth it if you are even remotely fussy. I've been wanting to buy some shin Megami games, but because they're so expensive I never could pull the trigger. However, shockingly, the specific game I wanted showed up in my local CEX a few weeks ago, not one but TWO copies. I inspected both and picked the better version... Neither had a manual, but apparently this is normal for many late production 3DS games, and it was much lower than market price regardless. Thankfully you can return online orders if you're unhappy with them, but I have contacted their customer support and they said you might get banned if you return games repeatedly.
As far as I'm aware it's the only one that did! Only one I've ever seen anyway! I sold my copy back in 2018 😢 but it was battered. Not like this condition. Wow. Impressive
