I'm Ashleigh. A millennial who has been sheltered from every classic movie you can think of. So every single Monday & Friday - I upload another Millennial Movie Monday - where I review YOUR favorite classic movies from a millennial's point of view.
after watching this movie, as a kid, made me realize i am apart of the “Have Nots”. 😔 This movie was inspiriting, but i knew i will never be apart of The Wealthy community.
This movie gave me a new appreciation for the song “Macho Man.” It’s one of my favorites now. Especially that “I said, dig my big thick mustache!” line 😂
John Lee Hooker was also in the movie, playing guitar on the sidewalk. You might check out his 1989 album "The Healer." He did a duet with Bonnie Raitt. It's a fantastic album I think you'd like.
ITS ASHLEIGH😀, My cousin died of BRAIN CANCER when I was young and he liked THIS MOVIE , he sent me the tape with the music in a letter he sent me, I don't have the tape anymore but I have his letter that he sent me in my secret treasure box in my HAB ROOM, I HAVE BEEN INTRESTED IN THE SPACE PROGRAM since I was young and I ATTENDED U.S. SPACE CAMP/SPACE ACADEMY IN HUNTSVILLE AND I HAVE NOT WATCHED THIS MOVIE SINCE MY COUSIN DIED BUT SEEING IT BRINGS BACK THE MEMORY OF WHEN I TOLD HIM I SAW IT AND HE SAW IT AND MY COUSIN LOVED IT, He sent me a tape of the soundtrack , UNFORTUNATELY I DON'T HAVE THE TAPE ANYMORE BUT I HAVE HIS LETTER WITH THE MUSIC he sent me in my treasure box, I TREASURE that letter, and watching it with you IS AWESOME!!!! becuase it bringsback that memory of when I first watched the movie and heard the music and I STILL THE MOVIE TODAY!!!!
Doesn't know Tom Selleck or Paul Newman?? Looks like it's time for some reactions to Magnum PI, Three Men and a Baby, Quigly Down Under, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting...
As I watched Ashleigh’s viewing of this fine film, I couldn’t help thinking that the perfect film that would answer so many questions about this time in America is HBO’s 1993 film ‘And the Band Played On’. A gut-wrenching and honest view of the early days of the AIDS crisis - from the confused and scared victims of the disease to the dedicated doctors investigating and trying to deal with it. It’s one of the finest films HBO ever produced.
Beverly D'Angelo was very attractive but Ashleigh she's not in supermodel Christie Brinkley's category. Christie pretty much created the supermodel genre.
As a matter of fact, all we are actually told about Mary Magdalene is that Jesus drove seven demons out of her. Despite her traditional reputation, the text of scripture says *nothing* about her being a ho. Nuns are not given a requisite period out in the world like the Amish do, because they are not born and raised in the convent. Unlike the Amish, who grow up in the Amish community and know nothing else, nuns generally come to the convent from their original life out in the world, and therefore (presumably)* already have the experience of what they are renouncing before they take their vows to make it official. -There _are,_ on the other hand, certain levels and periods of training before they actually take those binding vows, to give them time to find out if the monastic life is really for them. This is why the young one, “Mary 3”, was dressed differently from the others. She is not yet a “full fledged” nun. And YES I highly recommend your checking out Sound of Music! *(Maria appears to be something of an exception to the e general rule I stated above, but you’ll have to watch the movie and find out!)
Another Kevin Kline movie you should absoutely check out is the 1993 comedy "Dave" directed by Ivan Reitman (same guy who directed Ghostbusters) it Kevin Kline stars in it alongside SIgourney Weaver, it's really really good!
This was the era of no end-credit scenes! I do think this was the perfect, adventurous ending for the movie though. I recall watching this on TV as a kid and always watching until the camera pans away. One of my favs! Great review.
Regardless of peoples feelings Aids is a a part of LGBTQIA history. Please let us not forget where we came from and all those that died and suffered to get us here.
Seeing Debbie Reynolds reminds me that she had a cameo in CONNIE & CARLA, which is super gay and super funny and probably not on the poll. Maybe next year?
Kevin Kline is brilliant in everything I've ever seen him in. A few to check out - "Dave," "The Ice Storm", "Grand Canyon," "Silverado", "The Big Chill," and "Sophie's Choice."
So excited for you to be on this journey. This season is wild, and the next one is even more wild, but you'll get there when you get there. Don't worry too much, things will make sense as it goes. As for end-credits, I want to say that episode 4 has an end-credit scene, but that's about it.
I've just binged all your view askew vids (expect Dogma since it's been taken away for some reason) and I've been loving your reactions, as a huge Kev Smith fan I'm glad that you're enjoying it so much ^^ I'm really looking forward to see you continue the view askew journey! Snootchie bootchies ^^ PS: you're gonna love both Reboot and cry your eyes out when seeing Clerks 3
